Today I joined our #CSW68 delegate briefing from the UN Women UK and great to see some familiar names Greet Jans Sunita Harley (she/her) Collective Insight amongst the 1,500 committed delegates. What I heard that struck a chord: 🌟 We can't do it alone. 🌟Look at things from all perspectives to ensure everybody who is marginalised by society is brought in when we push for (both the small and the big) change. 🌟Invest in women, accelerate progress as when women thrive, all of humanity is thriving. ✨The purpose of CSW: 1. promote women's rights worldwide 2.create a space for women to tell their stories 3.creates a blueprint to shape global laws & policies on a specific topic each year. 🌟✨This years the key theme is: "to accelerate the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls by addressing poverty and strengthening institutions and financing with a gender perspective". aka economic empowerment. 🌍 Will post more as I experience different sessions. #diversityequityinclusion #womenempoweringwomen UN Women UK

Today I joined our #CSW68 delegate briefing from the UN Women UK together with more then >1500 others. Things that resonated: - Tabitha Morton said: "We do not need people to find our voices but need the space to use it." We can't do it alone. - Look at it from all perspectives to ensure everybody who is marginalised by our society is brought in when we push for (both the small and the big) change. - Invest in women, accelerate progress as when women trive, all of humanity is triving. We know the problems and the solutions and taking big bold steps to get there. - The purpose of CSW: 1. promote women's rights worldwide, 2. create a space for women to tell their stories 3. creates a blueprint to shape global laws & policies on a specific topic each year. I will share more in the next weeks on what is expected from being a delegate (so you can see if it is for you next year, takes place every year in March) and how I have experienced it. This years the key theme is: "to accelerate the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls by addressing poverty and strengthening institutions and financing with a gender perspective". aka economic empowerment. #diversityequityinclusion #womenempoweringwomen

No matter how society seems to downplay the role of women, being a woman is a gift to be treasured. As we celebrate international women’s day today, I feel honored to be part of the UN Women UK CSW delegates in commemoration of this years International Women’s Day. We will continue join the Commission on the Status of Women(CSW) to lend our voice and take action towards promoting women's rights, documenting the reality of women's lives throughout the world, and shaping global standards on gender equality and the empowerment of women. This year’s theme, “ Accelerating the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls by addressing poverty and strengthening institutions and financing with a gender perspective” is essential as globally, 10.3 percent of women live in extreme poverty compared to their male counterparts. There is therefore a need to act faster in order to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals come 2030. Lots of effort are being but in place by organizations, NGOs, communities and individuals towards making the world a safer place for women as well as creating a level playing field for women to thrive and maximize their full potential in business, governance, policy making and overall equal representation across board. Get involved, do not stay on the sidelines. Happy International Women’s Day. #csw68 #csw2024 #investinwomen #iwd2024

🌟 As International Women's Day approaches, UN Women convenes the annual Commission on the Status of Women (CSW68), addressing critical issues facing women globally. Reflecting on my journey as a delegate at CSW67 last year, I recall the profound insights gleaned from activists, advocates, experts, and government representatives worldwide empowering us to drive positive change within our spheres of influence. The key theme for CSW67 was around achieving digital equality. Based on the conclusions driven, we as delegates volunteered on various capacities to research, collaborate, craft innovative solutions for equal, humane and ethical technology (and to ensure every women has access to safety, choice and voice) over the last year. We’ve come a long way and we’ve got a long way to go. This year's CSW 68 theme is "Accelerating the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls by addressing poverty and strengthening institutions and financing with as gender perspective”. Excited to witness and contribute to the theme of CSW68. #CSW68 #UNWomen #GenderEquality #Empowerment #InternationalWomensDay UN Women UK

Building communities for brands who give a sh*t 💡Founder | Speaker | Events host 🗞️ Ft in Forbes, Marie Claire, Techround+
Is there anything better than women supporting women? YES, yes there is; *Everyone* supporting women. But this is a step in the right direction. I'm sharing this proudly as someone incredibly passionate about women's rights and working towards global equity. We can't do it on our own and I LOVE this campaign The UN Women UK have organised. What an honour to be a very small part of it. As a mother of a girl, one of four sisters, a partner of The Young Girls Network and the Founder of a network for women and non-binary people, this is exactly the kind of work that gets me up in the mornings. What is the CSW all about? Founded in 1946. The Commission on the Status of Women, also known as CSW is the biggest global policy-making body dedicated exclusively to promoting gender equality and the empowerment of women. UN Women, supports all aspects of the Commission's work. For over 70 years, the Commission has: 🩵 Led discussions on inequalities and discrimination against women and girls 🩵 Generated public attention on social taboos and broken stereotypes 🩵 Driven action to advance the rights of women and girls everywhere Now, this is an IWD campaign I can get on board with. Excited to attend the training and be a part of the change so desperately needed in this world. #unwomenuk #womensrights #financialeducation #genderequality #togetherforchange #Equity

International Women’s Day, is for Women and also Men! The 2024 theme for this year International Women’s Day is, “Invest in women: Accelerate Progress” ‘This theme emphasises the critical role of investing in women's education, healthcare, economic empowerment, and leadership development to accelerate progress towards gender equality. By investing in women, we not only enhance their individual opportunities and livelihoods but also drive positive social and economic outcomes for communities and nations.’ The above is well known and what we continue to strive for as it speaks to SDG10. When we educate and empower a woman we do so for the whole community! We need to also remember that men have a role to play. They can become allies in the fight for gender equality. Men can help dismantle oppressive systems and create space for women to thrive. It's essential for men to listen to women's experiences, amplify their voices, and actively work towards creating a more inclusive and equitable society. Together, men and women can build a future where everyone, regardless of gender, can live free from discrimination and enjoy equal opportunities. #men4women #internationalwomensday2024 #breakingbarriers #alliesforequity

It is International Women's Day, and inequality is a major issue. So, the UN report about what financial resources are available is an alarming read. "One of the major obstacles to attaining gender equality by 2030 is the alarming lack of financial resources, which results in an astonishing annual deficit of USD 360 billion for gender equality initiatives. This deficit poses a significant challenge that needs to be addressed urgently. Take a stand and participate in the conversation using the hashtag #InvestInWomen. It can make a difference in the following key areas to ensure that women are not left behind: 1. Investing in women: Recognizing it as a matter of human rights. 2. Ending poverty: Striving towards eradicating poverty for women. 3. Implementing gender-responsive financing: Incorporating a gender perspective into financial planning. 4. Shifting to a green economy and care society: Promoting environmentally friendly practices and supporting caregiving. 5. Supporting feminist change-makers: Backing individuals who drive positive feminist changes. Let's work together to create a world where gender equality exists for all." Eleanor Coleman, you are a great advocate for women and finances. What do you think is the most important issue?

🌍 Thrilled to share that I've been selected as a first-time UN delegate, representing UN Women UK at the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW68). An honor to champion age diversity and advocate for the universal right to work, recognising the importance of financial independence and basic living standards for women globally, irrespective of age or circumstances. 🌐 Leaders, governments, and NGOs will discuss this year's poignant theme—focused on ending poverty and the economic empowerment of women and girls, especially crucial in our changing and uncertain economic climate. Excited to contribute, albeit in a small way, to influencing global standards on gender equality as the organisation document and hold space to hear the realities and challenges of women's lives. UN Women UK is a catalyst for change, and I am consistently filled with hope that as women and allies come together, meaningful strides towards ending inequality can actually happen. Why not join us and keep moving forward to work towards a more equitable future. #UNWomenUK #Equality #ChangeMakerswomen #CSW68 #UNWomen #GenderEquality #GlobalImpact
