I don’t understand why more opportunities aren’t offered as remote positions. I’m not client-facing. I can produce the same, if not better, results from home without having to deal with only 1% of the jobs I am capable of doing being locally advertised. I pull my hair out in despair at times! I've worked remotely for 10 years, have a well-equipped studio at him and a steady client base, some of which I've had on my books for over 20 years. But when it comes to looking for positions as I'm currently exploring the permanent sector, due to my location, no suitable jobs are ever advertised locally. the last 10 years have proved that this is absolutely a working setup that just ... works! Where else do Iook?

I worked remotely for my last full time role for 9 years, I worked as part of an International Team where none were based locally to me. My projects and services were International by nature so having the flexibility to cover calls over multiple time zones was an added benefit 😀 Could I work from home from a technology perspective ? Yes Would I be collaborative if I went to my office location ? No as my team were all over the world. Did I save time by not commuting ? Yes, and yes that does improve mental health as it can be stressful ! I appreciate lots of jobs need people in the office, but for some working remotely and I fully agree in later years of employment can really make a difference.

I would love the opportunity to work remotely but changing roles isn’t easy- even with all of my transferable skills…

Remote work is going to be the future. Once AI agents start killing off roles. Those people not be able to get jobs at another company as all companies will eventually adopt that AI. Which means you will be forced to create your own business and everyone will work fully remote. That is coming.

I can only do remote work now and it is so frustrating the number of roles I would be perfect for, and can be done perfectly from home, but are on site only or hybrid . Even worse are the ones that say remote and then through the application it transpires that you need to go into office once a week or month...that isn't remote....it is hybrid!

As someone trying to get any work at all, whilst I would love remote work this is not necessarily an option. Many roles I notice do stretch to hybrid, although this might be only one or two days a week at home. I think a balance of both working styles is a good option for many.
