Did you know that reclaiming vehicle parts could be saving up to 3 million tonnes of carbon emissions annually in the UK? That’s the equivalent of the carbon footprint from manufacturing 24,000 new vehicles! 🚗 The latest report from the Vehicle Recyclers’ Association (VRA) sheds light on the massive impact the reclaimed vehicle parts industry has on reducing carbon emissions. With increasing pressure on the automotive industry to decarbonise, the report highlights the need for more robust enforcement and support for the recycling industry. At e2e we share in the VRA's belief that by making parts reuse more accessible, the industry can unlock even greater carbon savings. To achieve this, we must ensure that all end-of-life vehicles are properly recycled and delivered to authorised treatment facilities. Renault Group steps up its activity in the circular economy and looks ahead to regulatory changes - Renault has opted for an Individual System to manage end-of-life vehicles (ELVs) in compliance with its Extended Producer Responsibility under France’s Anti-Waste and Circular Economy Act (AGEC). - To collect, process and recycle ELVs from all its brands, Renault will draw upon the expertise of its long-standing partner INDRA Automobile Recycling, France's leading ELV processing network. - This approach reflects Renault Group’s pioneering strategy on the circular economy, implemented through its specialist subsidiary The Future Is NEUTRAL. Marking an industry-first, JLR will adopt tyres made with FSC®-certified natural rubber at scale across its luxury vehicle portfolio, including on the new Range Rover Electric. Global tyre manufacturer Pirelli will supply over 250,000 FSC®-certified tyres per year to JLR, made from natural rubber sourced from FSC®-certified plantations. Representing a significant step in increasingly sustainable tyre production and adoption, this collaboration supports the preservation of forests and promotes sustainable development. As core pillar of its Reimagine strategy, JLR is fully committed to ethical and responsible sourcing, including ensuring natural rubber used in its tyre production is checked at every processing stage right the way through to origin. 🇪🇺 The proposed ELV Regulation of the European Commission may not have been approved yet, it is already receiving well-deserved attention from OEMs and importers. Febelauto visited with Toyota Boshoku Europe N.V. and Bax & Company, recycling Groupe Comet . 🎯 If the EU regulation on ELV’s is approved, car manufacturers will need to incorporate recycled plastics from end-of-life vehicles by 2030 (6.25% plastic mass from ELVs and 18.75% from other post-consumer plastics). 🤝 Vehicle dismantlers and recyclers play a crucial role in advancing automotive circularity and collaboration with them is key. ♻️ The visitors were impressed by the strides in plastic shredding, sorting, and Groupe Comet’s advanced multipick line. This recognition highlights our ongoing commitment and successful strategy in sustainability and corporate responsibility. Did you know, for example, that Renault Trucks is multiplying initiatives to reduce water consumption and has thus managed to halve the amount of water required to produce a vehicle, decreasing from 12 m³ in 2013 to 6.5 m³ in 2023. Another significant example is responsible purchasing: we have strengthened our practices by evaluating 93% of our first-tier suppliers based on criteria related to human rights, working conditions, the environment, and business ethics.
