Its primary function is to cover and protect the solar cells, ensuring they operate efficiently by allowing maximum sunlight to reach them. Solar PV glass typically comes in two main forms: single glass and double glass panels. Single glass panels, or monofacial panels, consist of a single layer of tempered glass that shields the solar cells. Double glass panels, or bifacial panels, feature transparent layers on both the front and back, providing enhanced protection and allowing light to be captured from both sides.
