The U.S. has officially exceeded five million solar installations, marking a huge achievement in the nation's clean energy transition. This growth highlights the widespread adoption of solar power, with over half of these installations occurring since 2020. SEIA also predicts that solar installations in the U.S. will double to 10 million by 2030 and triple to 15 million by 2034. The U.S. is on track to achieve a record-breaking addition of 33 GW of solar capacity in 2023, with the solar industry having added 6.5 GW of new electric generating capacity in Q3 2023, marking a 35% year-over-year increase. This growth is attributed to the impact of federal clean energy policies. Despite economic challenges affecting the solar and storage industry, a report by the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) and Wood Mackenzie forecasts that solar will become the largest source of generating capacity on the U.S. grid by 2050. https://lnkd.in/gBukf-3R #SolarPower #CleanEnergy #USGrid #RecordBreaking2023 #SEIA #WoodMackenzie

The US broke its own Q1 record last quarter, adding 11.8GWdc of solar capacity. According to the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), the United States added more than 40GW of solar capacity to the grid last year, including 11.8GWdc of power installed in the first quarter of 2024. With the new installations, solar accounted for 75% of the total new capacity added to the US electrical system in Q1. The Solar Energy Industries Association. (SEIA) is leading the transformation to a clean energy economy, creating the framework for solar to achieve 30% of U.S. electricity generation by 2030. SEIA works with its 1,200 member companies and other strategic partners to fight for policies that create jobs in every community and shape fair market rules that promote competition and the growth of reliable, low-cost solar power #solarenergie #solarenergy #solar #usa #electricity #mywaytosolar Read more: https://lnkd.in/eMmS4HKm AdobeStock_323060669

This is great! Finally, we are saved. Praise be! Renewables technology to the rescue! Prices are falling, efficiency is going up. Onwards and upwards we go! Yahoo! I understand that the techno-optimists are screaming from the roof tops that all will be swell and dandy real soon, as long as we keep throwing technology at our problems. I understand it and I say, ‘bring it on!’ Let the lean, mean, green renewables machine get it on. But, wait just a bloody minute! Something’s not right here; it just doesn’t add up. The techno-optimists are at it for over 2 decades now. Solar, wind, batteries, EV’s, heat pumps, carbon capture — I can go on and on. But it is not dóing anything! The global warming KPI’s keep going up in accelerated tempo. Global average surface temperature, atmospheric CO2-levels, the Earth’s energy imbalance, global ocean acidification: all up, up, up. Could the techno-optimists please answer the questions in these posts? 1 — Are you a techno-optimist? Oh yeah? Is it any wonder the world is installing so much #solar? Prices continue to fall, driving greater installation rates, which drives further cost reductions, and on we go... And at the same time, the efficiency of the panels continues to creep up, so today's panels generate nearly 40% more power per unit area than panels made 10 years ago. Bell Labs announced its "solar battery" in 1954. That year, the world had less than 1 W of solar cells. From that moment, it took until the year 2000 for the world to install its first gigawatt of solar capacity. But then: ➡️ By 2005 it was installing 1 GW per year. ➡️ By 2010 it was installing 10 GW per year. ➡️ By 2017 it was installing 100 GW per year. And it won't be long before we are installing 1 TW per year. Onwards and upwards! H/t Nat Bullard #energy #sustainability #renewables #energytransition

Avoid punishment for producing too much solar power 🌞 The sun's output is unpredictable. Virtual Power Plants (VPPs) mitigate this unpredictability. By integrating multiple solar sites, VPPs not only reduce the risk of paying imbalance charges from grid companies but also enhance the stability and reliability of solar power on the grid. This is achieved through intelligent forecasting and pooling of solar assets, which allows for more consistent energy production. Follow our Virtual Power Plant series, or read the whole article with insight from Skyfri CEO, Christian Blom, right now! https://lnkd.in/dpjaQ8kq #SolarEnergy #VPP #Skyfri
