PCL organizes sports gala every year. For the past two years, we ( Electrical Team) have been champions in cricket, and my performance has also played a significant role. This year, during the sports gala, I felt a sense of pride, thinking that there is no better team than ours. I didn't focus much on practice and didn't consider it important because I thought everything would go smoothly according to my wishes. At the end, we would be a winning team. However, in this year's sports gala, we were eliminated in the first round. That's when I realized the reality of things and understood that everyone's expectations were on me. When those expectations are not met, people tend to forget your past performances. Yesterday's defeat taught me a valuable lesson about not taking things lightly in life. It reinforced the idea that we should always work hard and never neglect practicing. You should not be overconfident about anything, and consistent practice is crucial. Never underestimate anyone, and don't take your past achievements for granted. #PowerCement #SportsGala

Certainly the move to scrap the Gabba rebuild in favour of a brand new stadium at Victoria Park is going to be cause for some heated debate. Reading further into the recommendations however it’s heartening to see that the majority key projects for regions outside Brisbane are continuing full steam ahead. For example, the expanded Sunshine Coast Stadium and new Indoor Sports Facility at Kawana will provide a much needed new home for both elite and community sport on the coast. The upgraded Barlow Park Stadium in Cairns will provide a range of new economic opportunities to the Far North. The business cases and reference designs for these projects are largely complete, meaning construction of these venues can commence this year. Bringing forward the legacy benefits of these facilities for use well in advance of the games should be the imperative of all levels of government to maximise the impact of this once in a lifetime opportunity. #strongertogether #communityoutcomes #2032Games #olympics #paralympics #queensland #betterforqueensland

As a spectator sport, and outside major Champs, Indoor T&F (or Short Track as it is now called by World Athletics) is a far better product than Outdoor T&F. Indoor T&F is the best entertainment product in the sport. Atmosphere, proximity to athletes, simpler to follow, noise, ability to control lighting/music in an enclosed area to give spectators audio-visual experiences. And perfect for a country with terrible weather for 6-8 months of the year (*Cough UK Cough*) I'm surprised Private Equity hasn't moved in. It would cost a pittance to run compared to Football/Rugby/F1. Treat it like an entertainment product like T20 and it should be a big income driver if you have 1) suitable venues 2) drive to run regular meets Oct-Mar in UK. None of the UK facilities are up to scratch for this purpose btw. They're built as functional sports halls not entertainment venues. Boston's New Balance The TRACK at new balance should be the blueprint for London/BHam/Manc/Glasgow. Private investment to build a world class entertainment facility that can cater for spectators needs in 2024 forward and maximise commercial income from external events. The only venue we have of that standard is Utilita in B'ham but thats a) not owned by the sport b) only gives an income window of 2 events a yr. Money in '24 is in multi-purpose facilities to host the sport as an entertainment product & then maximise external commercial ops Name me one other major sport that doesn't own its key entertainment venues... Football? Rugby? Cricket? Golf? Tennis? F1? Netball maybe but they have a season and seriously impressive production values for their Super League season. I'd be really interested to see someone like On / New Balance etc. partner with someone like Knighthead Capital Management, LLC or Live Nation Entertainment or Oak View Group to deliver a world class 5000ish capacity facility or two that can host proper fan-first experiences for T&F Oct-Feb in the UK. With the facility available for England Netball/Netball Super League or British Basketball League too - as the dimensions lend themselves to multi-sport arenas. And then capitalise on external commercial like gigs / conferencing / hospitality etc. to drive revenue. #sport #sportsbiz #trackandfield #athletics #runningcommunity

Shout out to Front Office Sports for inviting me on to talk about Breaking in the Olympics! https://lnkd.in/gYyZznbs Watching pro bboying events on YouTube like Red Bull BC One and Battle of the Year was how I first got into dance, so it’s awesome to see it included on the world stage alongside other top sports. First thing everyone asks: wait how does that work? How is dance scored?? Here’s a quick rundown. Breaking first debuted in the Youth Olympics in 2018 as part of the IOC’s effort to modernize and attract a younger audience. It got 1M viewers, so it was green-lit for Paris. Battles are 1v1 where each dancer takes turns for 3 rounds. Each round, they have up to 60 seconds to impress 9 judges that score each round as it happens live. Each round is scored on 5 criteria: musicality, vocabulary, originality, technique and execution. Judges have iPads with sliding scales to score who performed each element better. Various qualifying events happened throughout the past year to have the 16 men and 16 women competing in Paris. Shout out to team USA: Logan (friend of STEEZY!), Victor, Sunny, and Jeffro. The 16 athletes are broken up in to groups of 4 to battle round robin, and top 2 from each group will move on to quarterfinals. Then it’s a tournament bracket to crown the world’s first breaking gold medalists. What does this mean for the future of dance? I think it opens more people up to the idea that dance can/will be a sport, where the top pro dancers can live and earn like other pro athletes. We’ve seen more curiosity and energy from brands, especially the ones we’ve worked with like Nike and Honda.
