"The keynote presentations and panel challenged me to think more about how we can leverage and strengthen a human rights approach to death, dying, grief and bereavement, especially in the context of constrained health and social care systems and in the face of growing needs." A/Prof Aileen Collier unpacks public health palliative care in the latest blog for RePaDD with reflections from the 3rd International Seminar on Public Health Research in Palliative Care. We must follow the science, evidence based, save lives etc. etc. Do those words sounds framiliar? Maybe the same type of words and mantras that were just disproven in almost all areas of covid? I applaud the passion of these folks to help those suffering from addiction. But harm reduction approaches like this are not new and are clearly not working. Follow “The science” should be a red flag term. Science by nature is about questioning, not accepting. I want to saves lives as well, enabling drug use under the guise of offering treatment to those actively in addiction is not working. Harm reduction is also too broad a term. It has now become a catch all a variety of practices, some beneficial (like medically assisted treatment). But other practices under harm reduction that provides supplies to those which enable use are dangerous and ineffective for drug treatment. Yelling grow up at the end of a post may also not be helping make your point.
The city lies & people die. The most terrifying part of this is how unhinged & simultaneously comfortable councilwoman Lozada is lying on camera and discussing stripping Kensington of PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICES. I don’t care what you believe in. We’re not disputing the existence of the tooth fairy or Santa Claus. You CANNOT debate the existence of these public health programs & the evidence proving their effectiveness. Harm Reduction exists. It is a real public health service. It is a necessity. How are we still wasting time discussing peoples belief systems regarding public health. Grow up. #harmreductionworks Shift Capital LLC #harmreductionislove #fyp #wedorecover #publichealth #showers #woundcare #overdoseprevention #philadelphia #crisis

This research is important. "The experiences and needs of millions of overdose loss survivors have been largely overlooked in the clinical and public health response to the overdose crisis". At Herren Project we know how far reaching, and how devastating these losses are. We have lived it. That is why we offer 26 weekly family support groups, including 6 grief groups, led by highly trained clinicians.
