Honored to partner with Woodward Original, Wieden + Kennedy, and Kraft Heinz to highlight the Black Kitchen Initiative - which exists to celebrate, uplift, and preserve the legacy of Black food by breaking down the barriers that keep Black voices and cooking out of the American culinary pantheon. Huge shoutout to Joy and Beth from Foode for putting on a cooking masterclass while being interviewed. Also of course to Marcus Samuelsson & Red Rooster Harlem for hosting, and all the work put into this initiative! Today, we celebrate Juneteenth, the holiday dedicated to the end of slavery and the liberation, culture, and freedom of African Americans in United States history. Black entrepreneurs, distillers, mixologists, and innovators have made rippling impacts on the beverage industry for as long as we've known, and commemorating their legacy is especially important for today's holiday. Check out this article we wrote for Juneteenth in 2022, spotlighting five Black innovators in the Beverage Industry. Cheers to education, history, and the continuing fight for equity!

I'm sharing this in hopes that it reaches the Black marketers struggling to find their "why" in their work. I see you. I first got into marketing because I felt like people who looked like me needed to be spoken to. Growing up in a predominantly white community in Alberta had its challenges, and it wasn't until I moved to Toronto at 19 that I felt seen. It took me walking down Queen Street and seeing diversity in the streets to realize that someone who looks like me can feel beautiful and occupy space. I've carried that feeling with me for the last 13 years. My career at Lush has been a catalyst for change. I've been given numerous opportunities to be the change I wanted to see when I was younger, and one of those opportunities was activating at AFROPUNK Worldwide LLC in Brooklyn, NY. Don't get me wrong, it still took some "work" proving the value to a few people (who don't work at the business anymore) but it also gained interest from our global team, which gave me the support I needed to create the concept of Club Lush. Club Lush is all about community, creativity, connection and a little bit of chaos (in the most fun way). It's inspired by providing a space to feel safe, beautiful and, more importantly, to feel seen. That's what we did, and after two long years, we saw this space come to life. Brand activations don't have to be about conversion. It's not about "selling" your brand. Creating an emotional memory with someone will have a more long-term impact than anything else. I watched many beautiful Black folks create those memories with Lush at Afropunk (thanks to our lovely film and photo team, you can also witness these moments in the video below). So here's to my Black marketers. I know it's hard sometimes because it can feel lonely, but don't lose sight of your "why". You have the power to create change, and when you feel like giving up, know that a fellow Black marketer from Canada is cheering you on.

Black women have been killing it in the kitchen since the beginning of time. Despite this fact, Black people — specifically Black women — have been underrepresented in the #culinary industry for decades. Although the number of Black chefs is increasing, there’s still plenty of progress to be made in giving us the recognition that we deserve. And with the new generation of Black foodies across the country looking to feed their culinary palates, there are several who are giving the people what they need — in the best way possible. From seasoned chefs to rising stars, here are seven women who are dominating the food scene, who need to be on your radar. https://lnkd.in/eXMHMTEh

Know what to add to your whisky
I spent a few very pleasant hours with Charlie recently, evaluating the effect BIRKENTREE Highland Birchwater has on whiskies, and a very illuminating time it was, too. " there is a lot of nonsense talked about water in whisky; but the only real difference water makes is what you add to your glass. That is why Birkentree works so well ". " Birkentree enhances the mouthfeel of a whisky; more rounded; filling the mouth; teeth-coating " Edinburgh Whisky Academy, Christopher Coates, Blair Bowman, Blair Sterrick, Scotch Whisky Association, Victor Brierley, Vikki Bruce, Fraser Hynd, Scottish Business Network

What a way to begin #womenshistorymonth! 🎉 We are beyond ecstatic about this partnership... read the caption below to learn more ⬇ #Partnershipsmatter #Forallwhowishtolearn
We are excited to share news of our partnership with The Slate Denver, Tapestry Collection by Hilton! Formerly the iconic Emily Griffith building, this historic gem has been beautifully transformed into a modern masterpiece, all while preserving its charming schoolhouse essence. 📚 Paying homage to Emily Griffith herself, they've even named their restaurant The Teacher's Lounge Food & Drink! But here's the best part: For every delicious bowl of soup sold at the Teacher's Lounge, $1 goes towards supporting the students and programs at Emily Griffith Technical College. 🥣 What makes this partnership even more special? Well, Emily Griffith herself used to whip up hearty soups for her students daily, a tradition that continues to inspire us to this day. Join us in celebrating this wonderful collaboration and enjoy a bowl of soup with a side of history at the Slate Hotel's Teacher's Lounge! #CommunityPartnership #SupportEducation #SoupForACause #opportunity #emilygriffithfoundation #denver #colorado
