Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Communications Strategist I Workshop Facilitator I Speaker I Co-author I Coach
🌟 Join me at the Strategic Communications Offsite in Santa Cruz, April 29-30! 🌟 Meet Cara, a client who was once where you are now. Stressed about content approval and stuck between leadership and employees. Cara was stuck between a leadership team that just didn’t “get it” and employees who wanted authentic, on-point, and actionable content. Together, we: * Designed communication objectives * Built a DEI communications strategy * Created plans for handling pushback I recently followed up with Cara to check in on her progress. She said: “Your 1:1 consulting was thought-provoking, providing a safe space to explore my own unconscious biases and gave me tangible ways to ensure our team’s communications are supporting an inclusive environment. Thanks Kim.” Learn the tools and frameworks I shared with Cara. Don’t miss out! Read feedback from other clients and secure your spot now! Last week, Spokn hosted our inaugural Internal Communications Leaders Dinner at the NYC outpost of the legendary Blue Hill At Stone Barns. Given that our guests were professional communicators, I had pretty high expectations for the conversations. And wow, this group did not disappoint. In addition to the latest on the comms industry (of course), I learned... 🍷 'Flâneur' means ‘to idle or lounge about,’ ideally going from one place to another for nibbles and sips. 🐝 Typically, swarming bees are not actually aggressive. They’re just looking for a new home. 💨 There’s a mountainous region in Spain where it’s so windy that you can grow wine without pesticides because the bugs simply blow away. 💅🏽 Both Governor’s Island and Edgewater have 🔥🔥 day spas. 📣 Internal Communications looks completely different from one company to another. The common thread: most teams are very new and very under-staffed. A huge thank you to the IC leaders who are helping Fawzy Abu Seif and me build a community to laugh, share, and (occasionally) commiserate: Abby Marks, Kelby Smith, Cici Ghattas, Joana Casas, Maureen Sullivan , Tamarra Thal, Michelle Tagmyer , Florencia Vidal, @Stefanie Karis, and @Cole Ledford. Cheers to the next dinner soon! #internalcommunications #employeecommunications #corporatecomms #networking

Strategic Communications Manager | Internal Communications Specialist | Content Manager | Community Builder
The strength of a company’s commitment to internal communications and engagement often mirrors the strength of its culture. It’s not a nice-to-have — it’s a dangerous-to-not-have. 🔪 I am grateful for the work I get to do, the difference it makes for our people, and the value it brings to our organisation.💙 I appreciate that our leaders not only get it but are willing to listen and to invest in it. Our people see that. I see that. It means something to them. It means everything to me. Investing in strategic and internal communications demonstrates a fundamental understanding that a company can only achieve success through the strength and determination of its people — that a company’s culture is only as good as its communication and communication can only be as good as a company’s culture will allow. … it’s not just newsletters, you know. 🙂💚 #IChoseIC PS If you saw me filming this outside St James, no you didn’t. 😆

Professional advisor and researcher supporting agencies and in-house teams across a range of management, corporate communications and public relations issues
I'm joining this panel tomorrow to talk about the expectations of employees for organisations to speak out on political and societal issues. This was the case during the pandemic when we invited bosses into our homes via Zoom, but elections in the UK and US, the war in Ukraine and the situation in Gaza have changed everything. Now, organisations have switched to listening and working directly with affected employee community groups, and rightly so. Wadds Inc. published a report on purpose and polarisation in June, commissioned by NewsWhip based on interviews with corporate communications leaders. In it, we identified this reversal. The report includes a decision-making framework to help organisations determine when to speak out and when to stay quiet. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/enpshBqT
Join us on 16 October, where our panel will discuss how internal communicators can advise senior leaders in making a stance and how the relationship between internal and external communication colleagues needs to be robust with careful and consistent communication that aligns authentically with stated organisational values. They will also look at if there is a time to stay silent – do we really say it best when we say nothing at all? Our panel of industry experts include: Sarah Meurer, BA. MA, VP Global Internal Communications at Elsevier Justine Stevenson, Internal Communication Director at AQA Stephen Waddington, director of Wadds Inc. Dr Naeema Pasha, Speaker, & Author Book the virtual event: https://ow.ly/voTA50TghVG #ICIndex #InternalComms #ColleagueExperience #Activism

In an increasingly polarized environment, #communications has become ever more challenging to navigate: 💬 How do you decide what to respond to? 💿 What do you put on record? 👥 How do you address internal stakeholders?
