As graduation season approaches, one can't help but reflect on the past. It's been a while since I graduated from the University of Cincinnati. Looking back, I realize how much that internship at Delta Air Lines sparked my interest in the aviation industry. From there, I've been fortunate enough to work in various roles at different airlines. One of my fondest memories was visiting Wheels Up Wheels Up Private Jets and learning about the private jet industry. It was an amazing experience that reminded me why I love this industry so much; it's constantly evolving, which keeps it exciting. #aviationindustry #keepclimbing

🚀 Insightful Discussion on Safety Management Systems with My Mentor🚀 Yesterday, during my internship at Boeing I had a profound discussion with my mentor, Ahsan Naseer, P.Eng about the Safety Management System (SMS). Ahsan explained how SMS works and how it is crucial in managing risk in aviation. He highlighted the balance between protection and production, showing how these factors can be both directly and inversely proportional. Understanding this relationship is essential to maintaining safety while achieving operational efficiency. This conversation gave me a deeper appreciation for the complexities of aviation safety. As I continue to build and improve our internship programs at Richard Group I would like to gain some insight from those of you who see this post regarding DOD Skillbridge experiences or expectations. For those of you who have completed or are looking to begin your skillbridge transition program, what are some takeaways from or expectations for your host company? What is your ideal length of time for the internship with it being a max of 6 months? What aspects attract you most to certain roles/companies when considering your first job opportunity upon transitioning from the military? There are dozens of questions to ask, and with my own skillbridge experience I have a good standard for how I believe the program should be run, but hearing more than just my own opinion is essential to making an outstanding program. Whether you're a veteran who has or is going to participate in a skillbridge, or a company representative in charge of the skillbridge process at your respective company, any insight is welcome. #skillbridge #transitioning #veterans #grit #gratitude #greatness

"What is one piece of advice you'd give your younger self?" This message was posed by a Summer 2024 Cirrus Intern in a group chat of 42 incoming students. First, let's recognize the confidence and vulnerability it took to ask this question in a group of strangers. Second, let's take a look at some of the responses: -"Keep moving forward." -"No amount of money ever bought a second of time." -"The grass is greener where you water it." -"Make time for those close to you because tomorrow is not guaranteed." -"Remember where you started." -"Every day is sunny if you get above the clouds." Not only did this chat feed remind me why I love working with the student programs at Cirrus Aircraft, but it made me grateful. I'm grateful for an organization that recognizes and nurtures the potential of emerging talent, knowing that these incoming students will shape the future. As professionals, it's easy to get comfortable in our routines and ways of thinking. There is immense value in stepping back and learning from the vibrant minds of the new generation of students entering our fields. Fresh perspective matters.
