Research Institute at Dallas College’s Post

Exciting updates from Third Way in their second annual Economic Mobility Index (EMI)! This metric measures how well four-year institutions help improve their students’ long-term socioeconomic standing, and it served as the model for the Research Institute at Dallas College’s Economic Mobility Index for Two-Year Institutions (EMI2) in 2022. The EMI found that Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs), made up approximately 35% of the 281 institutions in the index’s top tier of performers for improving economic mobility. The EMI2 found similar results: 27% of the two-year institutions providing the best socioeconomic returns for students are HSIs. Community colleges constitute 85% of top performers in the EMI2. Dallas College is proud to be both an HSI and community college helping provide our students upward mobility!
