Some of the world's top high school economics students visited us for this year's Australasian Economics Olympiad (AAEO). The AAEO is a regional economics competition for high school students, with competitors from seven countries including Australia, Singapore and China. During their visit, the students had the opportunity to hear from Chief Economist Sarah Hunter and a panel of economists to learn about our role and what a career in economics can look like.
Our public education program offers a range of talks to high school students throughout the year. Teachers can request a talk for their classes by contacting us via our website at https://bit.ly/4bwIoUc#RBA#RBACareers#RBAEducationProgram#Economics

This was such a terrific event and it was so cool to be Australia's Team Leader. Incredibly thoughtful, smart and passionate students.
Great job to everyone involved, and huge thank you to Sarah Hunter , Alex Symonds and the rest of the panel. This meant a lot to the young economists present. Your messages on the importance and fulfilment in studying economics will no doubt reach young people across the country.

The M.Sc. Economics builds upon the expertise and reputation of our faculty in various fields of economics. It offers a lot of flexibility and is the most versatile program in economics that we offer. If you want a program that allows you to choose courses from the areas of economics that you find most interesting, this is the program for you. Either choose one of three specialized tracks (Economic History and Development, Empirical Methods and Data Analysis, or International Economics), or enjoy the freedom of choice offered by the “no track” option.
Experts in economics become ever more important for societies to master key challenges of the future, such as achieving sustainable growth and avoiding unacceptable levels of economic inequality or unemployment. A broad range of field courses and electives gives you all the necessary flexibility to develop your individual academic profile in order to become such an expert.
Graduating from this program, you will be able to understand the driving forces behind major economic trends and what these mean for firms, workers, and governments. You will acquire the skills to analyze economic data professionally and understand the logic of economic problems.
Double Degree Option: This program can be completed as a double degree with the University of Nottingham.

Our female A-level Economists today had the opportunity to meet with Ana, an Old Burfordian and current third-year Economics student at the University of Glasgow.
Economics is a very male-dominated field so we are doing our best to support our female students who may be considering it as an option. Ana discussed with students a wide range of topics, from the breadth of modules available in an Economics degree to future career pathways and application advice.
One student commented, "I definitely did not realise the amount of choice available in an Economics degree. It has made me more likely to study it at university." Another added that "having someone young and still studying made it much more relatable."
If you work or study in an economics-related industry and would be willing to come in and share your experiences with the students, please do get in contact with our Assistant Headteacher for Curriculum and Standards and Teacher of Economics, Mr D Pullin, via the following link: https://lnkd.in/eu-zFggw
Opportunities to hear from people with experiences beyond their A-level are invaluable and always well-received.

Today we want to put a spotlight on our BSc (Hons) Economics.
The course is based on an equivalent programme at Nottingham, UK (L100 Economics). However, it will span four years rather than three to incorporate a Preliminary year which will predominantly cover English language skills.
The course provides training in the principles of economics and their application, knowledge about the workings of the economy, skills for constructively using that knowledge in a range of settings, analytical skills, and an ability to develop simplifying frameworks for studying the real world.
The main aims of a degree programme in Economics are as follows:
To provide training in the principles of economics and their application. To stimulate students intellectually through the study of economics and to lead them to appreciate its application to a range of problems and its relevance in a variety of contexts. To provide a firm foundation of knowledge about the workings of the economy and to develop the relevant skills for the constructive use of that knowledge in a range of settings. To develop in students the ability to apply the knowledge and skills they have acquired to the solution of theoretical and applied problems in economics. To equip students with appropriate tools of analysis to tackle issues and problems of economic policy.
The goal is to develop in students, through the study of economics, a range of transferable skills that will be valuable in employment and self-employment. The goal is also to provide students with analytical skills and the ability to develop simplifying frameworks for studying the real world. To provide students with the knowledge and skill base from which they can proceed to further studies in Economics, related areas or multi-disciplinary areas that involve Economics.
Special features:
Our graduates will have a thorough understanding of economic theory and quantitative methods, familiar with the key analytical techniques used by economists, have expertise in analyzing international economic issues and have a professional perspective on China's position in the world economy.
Our graduates are recognized by employers in various industries. Not only because of their fluent English but also because of their good creativity, self-confidence and interpersonal skills, these qualities quickly make them different.
