These are your answers to our recent Olympic Games #poll 📊 In our latest LinkedIn poll, we asked whether you believe the Paris 2024 Olympics can significantly reduce its carbon footprint compared to previous games. According to your responses, only 10% of respondents believe it will have a significant impact. 🇫🇷♻️ Majority said that it would only have somewhat of an impact (47%). We also observed that a significant portion of our respondents were skeptical about the Paris 2024 Olympics achieving a substantial reduction in its carbon footprint compared to previous games, with 27% seeing little impact and 17% seeing no impact at all. The Paris 2024 Organising Committee, aims to make it the greenest Olympics ever, aiming to half the carbon footprint of London 2012 and Rio 2016. 💨 London 2012's footprint was 3.3 million tonnes, while Rio 2016's was 3.6 million tonnes. Thank you for participating in our poll! If you missed this round, don't worry—we'll be doing these regularly so you can continue to share and compare your votes. 🙌 #Paris2024 #Olympics #OlympicGames #RoadToPari#SustainableOlympics #GreenGames #Sustainability #CircularEconomy #Europe

Paris 2024 is billed as the Eco-responsible Games. The organising committee asserts that hosting a conventional Games contradicts France’s climate and GHG reduction commitments. Instead, they have made the ambitious promise to guarantee that these Olympics and Paralympics will be carbon-neutral. #paris2024 #olympics

This Olympic Games is targeting to halve the carbon footprint of the Games compared with the average for London 2012 and Rio 2016. Apparently those averaged 7 million tons of CO2e, the equivalent of 1.5 million cars’ annual emissions. I hate to dampen the enthusiasm that most of us has for the Olympics but when you are walking around this summer in the crazy heat, you may want to consider the connection between our lifestyles and the impact it has on our climate. https://lnkd.in/dZdwx2je

🥇 As the Paris 2024 Olympics begin tonight, a celebration of international unity and sport, it's an excellent time to reflect on another topic requiring a global collaborative effort - sustainability! Did you know that the average annual CO2e emissions of a UK resident are 4.72t? Struggling to picture this? On Saturday morning, turn on your TV, watch the swimming, and take a look at the pool . On average every year, a UK resident emits enough CO2e to almost fill an Olympic swimming pool (96% at STP). 🏊♂️ Luckily for sport there's 3 spots on a podium. Unfortunately, however, with sustainability only a gold medal performance will do. Whilst cardboard beds, temporary venues, and public transport networks will make a difference for these games, it's still essential that every individual plays a part in the sustainability challenge we face. #Sustainability #Paris2024 #ClimateAction #OlympicGames

The Olympic creed reads "The most important thing in the Olympic Games is not to win but to take part [...]". At ESMERALDA, we're in for the struggle, but the clear intention is to win the battle against land degradation, biodiversity loss, poverty, food insecurity and the many other issues we are address through our projects. #Olympics2024 #Sustainability #ESMERALDA #LandRestoration #UnityInDiversity #EnvironmentalStewardship Alain Retiere Jürgen Ackermann Markus Neteler Michel Ackermann Nicolas Ackermann Philippe GISQUET Oliver Herrmann Xenia Paulsen
🏃🏽♀👟 This Friday sees the opening of the Olympic Games in France. At ESMERALDA, we are deeply inspired by the spirit of unity, perseverance and cultural exchange. The Olympic Games symbolise the coming together of different nations to compete with respect and to achieve extreme performance. This vibrant convergence resonates deeply with our mission at ESMERALDA. At ESMERALDA, a Franco-German joint venture, we are dedicated to restoring degraded land through our Land Degradation Neutrality projects. Just as athletes work tirelessly to achieve their best, we are committed to revitalising our planet so that future generations can inherit a world where nature thrives in harmony with human progress. Our work is not just about restoring the environment, but about fostering a sustainable relationship between people and the land we all share. The Olympic Games remind us that true achievement comes through cooperation, determination and respect for each other and our planet. Every athlete's journey to the Games is a testament to what can be achieved through dedication and hard work. Similarly, our projects require the same level of commitment and cooperation across borders, reflecting the Olympic spirit of unity and excellence. Just like the athletes, we prepare our projects thoroughly, implement them together with local communities and collect feedback and data to improve their implementation. The real difference between the Olympic Games and Land Degradation Neutrality projects is that in our case there are no losers. Everyone should benefit positively from LDN. Yes, the Olympics are not perfect and many things can be improved from a social, economic and environmental perspective. But there are also many positive developments. As we strive to create a better and fairer world, let us also enjoy and celebrate our athletes and this cultural meeting! #Olympics2024 #Sustainability #ESMERALDA #LandRestoration #UnityInDiversity #EnvironmentalStewardship Alain Retiere Hinrich Paulsen 🇪🇺 Jürgen Ackermann Markus Neteler Michel Ackermann Nicolas Ackermann Philippe GISQUET Oliver Herrmann Xenia Paulsen
