Exciting to be speaking as part of the online 2024 Responsible Raw Materials Conference today - join me at 17:30 BST, 12:30 EDT when I will talk about the role #localprocurement plays in securing access to critical minerals. With all the buzz about forward linkages into refining, smelting and other forms of value-addition to extracted minerals, in many countries it is backward linkages which should be the short to medium term priority!

By producing green metals in Australia, we open opportunities for current and future workforces. Australia’s abundant solar and wind resources, extensive mineral reserves and highly skilled population means Australia will have a comparative advantage in the production of green metals. Views on how to grow the industry? Have your say via Department of Industry, Science and Resources's consultation paper. #NetZero #NetZeroTransition #greenmetals #greenindustry #FutureMadeinAustralia
What opportunities and barriers do we need to know to achieve a thriving green metals industry in Australia? We want to hear informed views, data and analysis from organisations and communities, including: • industry • think tanks • research organisations • unions • state and local governments. Your response will help guide policy to support an Australian green metals industry and contribute to a Future Made in Australia. Insights from the consultation will also inform the Australian Government’s Net Zero Plan, including the Industrial Sector Plan. This plan will consider the opportunities and barriers to decarbonising Australian industries, including metals. Last month, I presented at the PGR Symposium at #OxfordBrookes on the sustainable supply of critical raw materials for a successful #EnergyTransition, exploring barriers and knowledge gaps. While #CriticalElements can meet future demands, achieving this requires addressing supply concerns and strategic planning. Materials such as cobalt, lithium, and rare earth elements face significant supply risks. An intriguing insight was that copper is potentially the most critical element, primarily due to the anticipated growth in developing nations, alongside the demand for energy transition. Ensuring a reliable and sustainable supply also demands prioritizing social and environmental impacts. The Hague Centre for Strategic Studies (HCSS) released a report (a while ago already) highlighting a critical issue: the increasing scarcity of minerals vital for modern industry. This isn't just an environmental concern; it's a business risk. At Circle PGM, we're turning this challenge into an opportunity. Our specialized anode recycling process recovers valuable metals like Platinum and Iridium from industrial waste, reducing the need for new mining and securing a steady supply of these crucial resources. But it's not just about securing supply. Recovering these metals also significantly reduces the environmental impact associated with mining, aligning your business with a more sustainable future. Want to learn more about how anode recycling can safeguard your supply chain, boost your sustainability profile, and even uncover new revenue streams? Let's connect! #circulareconomy #anoderecycling #metalscarcity #sustainability

As a significant contributor to the recycling of non-ferrous metals, the JGI-HYDROMETAL group celebrates the recent adoption of the Critical Raw Materials Act (CRMA) by the Council of the EU. This legislation establishes a framework for ensuring a sustainable supply of critical and strategic materials vital for the green and digital transitions, and for the space and defense industries. It sets ambitious targets for local extraction, processing, and recycling, alongside deadlines for permitting relevant projects addressing these segments of the value chain. Through its ongoing business operations and strategic projects on recycling complex materials containing non-ferrous metals, the JGI-HYDROMETAL group is dedicated to contributing to the achievement of the CRMA's targets. #jgihydrometal #CriticalRawMaterialsAct #EUGreenTransition #metalrecycling #CRMAct #CRMA

We're thrilled to share that Momentum was recently highlighted in an article by S&P Global Commodity Insights, showcasing our efforts in advancing domestic critical minerals recycling. In the interview, our CEO, Mahesh Konduru, discussed how Momentum’s modular technology and localized recycling solutions are helping the U.S. secure critical resources essential for the energy transition. Key insights include: 🔹 Localized Recycling: Momentum is driving the shift toward local recycling of critical minerals, allowing communities to have more control over their resources. 🔹 Modular Technology: Our MSX system offers unmatched flexibility—allowing us to scale operations quickly while adapting to the specific needs of various markets. 🔹 Government Support: Policies like the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) are boosting U.S. production capacity, directly supporting our goal of onshoring critical mineral recovery. 🔹 Fast Deployment: Our modular facilities can go from permitting to operations in 6-9 months, enabling rapid scaling of black mass processing.
