Responsible Jewellery Council’s Post

RJC member Lucara Diamond announces the recovery of 2,492 carat diamond from its Karowe Diamond Mine in Botswana - the second largest diamond ever found. “This remarkable find, one of the largest rough diamonds ever unearthed, was detected and recovered by the Company’s Mega Diamond Recovery (“MDR”) X-ray Transmission (“XRT”) technology, installed in 2017 to identify and preserve large, high-value diamonds.” - Lucara Diamond 📸 Lucara Diamond 🔗 https://lnkd.in/g9Yp6zck #Diamonds #LucaraDiamond #DiamondIndustry #Diamond #Jewellery #JewelryIndustry

Imagine how many of these super-deep diamonds are left, then image how many were accidentally crushed in the past. Diavik is on it final countdown as is Ekati and the prospects for new mines to come online world wide is dwindling by the day. Where will the worlds supply of natural diamonds form the foundation to longevity in supply? Those are the questions that require a serious rethink in strategy. Without a deposit in hand companies who endeavour to remain in the dominant role of diamond supplier of naturals need to consider to resolve this conundrum. If there are fewer deposits even now, than consider where the most amazing Type lla will come from...🤔
