Legislation Updates with Raluca Anghel, Natural Diamond Council. The EU’s new Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) is raising the bar. Starting January 2025, large companies and listed SMEs must report on their environmental and social impacts – with independent audits. The CSRD introduces "double materiality," meaning companies will assess both how sustainability risks impact them and their effect on people and the planet. Aligned with CSRD, the RJC’s upcoming COP standards - focusing on legal compliance, policy, reporting, and impact assessment – can support members in navigating these new requirements. Does CSRD apply to you? Here’s a quick timeline: 2025: Large companies; 2026: Listed SMEs & specific financial institutions; 2028: Non-EU companies with substantial EU operations. Stay tuned for more updates as we approach this important shift! The Hope Diamond, a stunning 45-carat blue gem with a dark and mysterious past. Mined in India over 350 years ago, it has passed through the hands of kings, thieves, and collectors, leaving a legacy of misfortune for many who possessed it. Now safely housed at the Smithsonian, it's waiting for those daring enough to see it up close. Happy Halloween. #TheHopeDiamond #RJC #HopeDiamond #Diamonds #GemStones #HopeDiamond #DiamondJewelry #Halloween #HappyHalloween
