Thanks to our dad, we practiced regenerative and sustainable farming before it became a buzzword. Not to knock a buzzword though! We love how regeneration is gaining the attention, and investment, it deserves. Today, both small-scale shareholders and large companies are embracing regenerative practices while the government and NGOs are bolstering support. #regenerativeag #sustainablefarming #regeneration #soilhealth

UK environmental consultancy Bright Tide has launched its first ever Regenerative Farming Accelerator. 'The world is facing an unprecedented convergence of environmental crises. And our global food system is not helping. In fact, UNEP estimates agriculture is currently the primary driver of soil depletion and biodiversity loss, while according to the FAO close to 90% of the world’s marine fish stocks are overexploited. The solution? Regenerative farming, both on land and in the ocean. This nature-informed approach to food production is capable of improving soil health, boosting terrestrial/marine biodiversity, and carbon sequestration as well as providing resilient, long-term livelihoods for farmers around the world.' https://hubs.li/Q02jTQr70

Regenerative farming is a solution to multiple challenges in our world today. But it isn't magic - you need to put a serious effort behind it. "What we've learned at Slow is that this transition isn't going to happen unless those further up the supply chain—like us, and other companies—take on more of the cost and risk." We're a 220 people company - but only 12 of us work in Europe. An actual presence at the coffee farms year round is crusial to make an actual impact - for nature, climate and the farmers. 🌱 Many talk about #RegenerativeCoffee, but few put smallholder farmers at the heart of the solution. At Slow, we know firsthand the challenges faced by coffee communities in Laos and Vietnam. Regenerative farming is no easy fix. It requires real, on-the-ground action, not just good PR. Our approach? Over 90% of our team works side by side with farmers, providing essential support like training, tree seedlings, and even emergency funds. The truth is, for regenerative farming to truly succeed, companies like ours must share the cost and risk with the farmers who make it possible. Let's make "regenerative" mean real change, not just a buzzword. 🌍💪 Click here for the full article https://lnkd.in/g99FSYj9 #Sustainability #Agroforestry #ESG #Coffee #SustainableCoffee #CoffeeIndustry #ClimateAction

Now, lets help the farmers transition to a model that provides them with a solid business return, no subsidies needed. Farming with nature. Making peace with Nature. Regenerative agriculture, reported in a recent Reuters News Agency article, “could halve the global food system’s greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and reduce negative impacts of farming on plants, wildlife, and freshwater.” But there’s a catch. “Responsibility for delivering regenerative agriculture often rests with poorly paid farmers, who face added costs, coupled with a risk of short-term loss in yield, at a time when climate change is making their efforts to eke a living from the land increasingly precarious.” Boomitra and our local implementation partners resolve this challenge: by providing the support, knowledge, and community necessary to make the transition from conventional to #regenerativeagriculture, Boomitra removes barriers to entry while opening doors to all the #cobenefits of #soilcarbon. “We’re focused on holistic improved soil health, and a lot of times regenerative ag gets focused on carbon reduction, but it’s much more than that,” Sprung says. “It’s about improving biodiversity, increasing water quality, making sure that soil stays in place so it still helps reduce soil erosion — all of those things.” A different way to incentivize regenerative agriculture https://lnkd.in/grvsvYFZ
