Had the opportunity to attend the 16th annual Merchant Medicine Symposium in Nashville, and I have to say—it was an incredible experience! The speakers were nothing short of inspiring, sharing cutting-edge insights that really show how urgent care is evolving. From discussions about innovation to ways we can better serve our communities, it’s clear that the future of urgent care is brighter than ever. There was a wealth of knowledge on how we can continue to expand our reach, increase access to care, and build a more patient-centered experience. I’m excited to be part of this movement and to bring back fresh ideas to drive change and elevate the care we deliver. The healthcare landscape is always shifting, but what’s certain is our ability to adapt, innovate, and lead with compassion. Medically Home  VP, Clinical Strategy and Implementation, Linda V. DeCherrie M.D. was invited to serve as a panelist at this year's Oliver Wyman Health Innovation Summit in Chicago which took place last week. The session called, All That Jazz: Navigating The Shift To Care At Home, focused on realizing the full potential of the home as a site of care. Key takeaway: Panelists debated which elements are further along or further behind in moving care to the home, each providing letter grades A-F to where they believe we are currently in areas such as consumer experience, clinical efficacy and payment models. The area where there was agreement is that the patient experience and clinical efficacy for hospital at home care are positive while there is a ways to go with payment models. Dr. DeCherrie is a foremost authority on hospital at home care and is a frequent speaker and panelist on the topic. #hospitalathome

We do the same thing in the news business, we focus on immediate maladies: postage increases, labor costs, programmatic advertising, etc.. We do this instead of celebrating what we do best, keeping the public informed. I would bet if we were to focus more on the positive aspects of the fourth estate and how we can help grow a community, through shared knowledge, both readers and advertisers would see the merit. I might add, Dr. Dysinger is my physician and I live near the City of Loma Linda, a blue zone. #newspapers #publishing #education

Since working in healthcare philanthropy, I better understand the importance of keeping patient care and experience at the center of executive business decisions. In an increasingly complicated healthcare system, it's easy for leaders to lose sight of the mission, which can often lead to poor patient outcomes for the sake of profit margins. As this Newsweek article writes, "a new era of care delivery is upon us. Who better to chart it than the very physicians who provide that care?" I am so pleased to see more institutions, like Cleveland Clinic and Henry Ford Health, preserving patient-centered care by empowering physicians to lead.
