With us making all this aero for the TT, it's time to see if it is truly making a difference to how the car drives! To see if it helps, we've took our TT to Donington for an RMA Track day on one of the coldest days on the year, added potentiometers to the dampers to see how much the downforce effects the bump and rebound as well as checking how the new under tray effects both aero dynamics and engine temperature! But is all this fiddling about with aero worth the time and effort? https://lnkd.in/eHQJTTUS
DOES ALL THIS AERO WE'VE MADE WORK?? Donington National 🏁

If you were at Lester's Field on May 30th, 1919, you would have watched this fabric and wood powered box kite being assembled. Two Englishmen had come to St. John's, Newfoundland to attempt to fly the void of the Atlantic. They were the last of the competitors to arrive, their Vickers Vimy in wooden crates unloaded from the steamship S.S. Glendevon and brought by hauling contractor Charles Lester to a landing field. When competitors crashed their aircraft from there, John Alcock and Arthur Whitten-Brown looked for a better runway. Alcock lamented to Lester their lack of adequate take off space for the Vickers Vimy . “A good clear run of 500 yards” was what they needed. By happy accident, Lester owned such a field- filled as it was with trees, boulders and a ditch. For a nominal sum, he offered to make it suitable for take off. Even then, the pilots knew that the overloaded plane might hit the trees at the end of Lester's property. Flying the 1,900 miles across the Atlantic was suicidal- everyone knew that and no one expected the two to succeed. How could they navigate by the stars in fog ? In their open cockpit aircraft, they had a barely functioning heating system and a radio transmitter that would die almost immediately after takeoff. But like pilots then and now, it was the pair's courage and belief in technology - the Vimy was powered by two Rolls-Royce Eagle 360 hp. engines and Rolls-Royce had sent a team led by engineer Eric Platford to be on-site. Compared with Charles Lindbergh's flight in 1927, there was little news coverage and even today their daring flight is almost forgotten. But Alcock and Brown’s brave, some would say reckless, feat changed the face of aviation forever. The author's next book " Atlantic Obsession : the Mad, Bad Years".
