Congratulations to all the managers who have successfully conducted their international Young Manager Program (iYMP) 2024 at the Rheinmetall Academy in Düsseldorf. The participant groups consisted of young managers from various divisions and countries who ran through the modules of the iYMP as an established learning and working group. Each individual of this international groups with members from different cultures and genders will be a vital part in managing the diversity within Rheinmetall in a way that every team member will be able to give the best. The background of the participants from the different divisions enabled an intensive exchange of ideas and helped them to get to know the Rheinmetall Group across country and company borders. This connection will last far longer than the duration of the program. How is the group-wide part of the iYMP structured at the Rheinmetall Academy? The iYMP is divided into several learning nuggets. In the modules focused on the area of leadership, participants are able to gain valuable experiences of different leadership approaches and develop a common understanding of good leadership in intercultural setups. This is combined with intercultural sensitization and awareness of cultural values, working and communication styles, project- and business management skills. The young managers receive training in leadership styles and tools to help improve the performance of the team or network in a global matrix or network organization. They acquire hands-on knowledge of success factors and leadership interventions in the areas of (virtual) communication and cooperation. The iYMP is structured in a way that involves significant contribution from the participants: The participants are involved in the co-design of core topics of the learning content, learning methods and their application in day-to-day management. The iYMP training sessions focus mainly on practicability. Learning methods such as dynamic simulations, role play with real time challenging scenarios can support the young managers in putting theory into practice. In individual and college coaching sessions, which take place face-to-face and virtually, the participants acquire specific knowledge for their present or future management role. These (intercultural) experiences will have a very positive impact on the participants, their teams and Rheinmetall as a whole. #rheinmetall #rheinmetallacademy #diversity #diversityconnects #culture #gender #leader

Rheinmetall subsidiary YardStick Robotics GmbH, which develops AI-controlled robots for extreme operational environments, and Rheinmetall Waffe Munition GmbH were awarded a supportive funding notification for the “RoX” research project for a total of €1.4 million. At the ‘Scaling Industrial Data Ecosystems’ event in Berlin, Robert Habeck, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection, presented the notice to Klaus Kappen, Chief Technology Officer of Rheinmetall AG, and Domenico D'Agostino, Managing Director of YardStick Robotics. “RoX” is a research project funded by the BMWK with a total volume of €52 million. The share of the project volume for the Rheinmetall companies is €3.5 million. Launched in September 2020 and scheduled to run for 30 months, “RoX” has set itself the goal of developing a digital ecosystem for AI-based robotics with scalable and innovative solutions for practical implementation. YardStick Robotics relies on an efficient and cost-effective development workflow that is made possible by digital networking and model-based system development, as well as the use of artificial intelligence. This opens up access to customised robots and automation lines, particularly for small and medium-sized companies – for future-oriented and efficient automation in various industries. Looking into the future, this will open up a wide range of application scenarios for the Rheinmetall Corporation. These will be implemented at the site in Unterlüß as part of RoX, together with Rheinmetall Waffe & Munition and others. Already in spring of this year, YardStick Robotics was able to acquire a funding sum of €3.2m as part of the Manufacturing-X initiative of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK) for the Robot-X research project in cooperation with the Rheinmetall entities Pierburg GmbH and Rheinmetall Electronics GmbH.
