Dear Woman On this International Women's Day, I celebrate the resilience, strength, and grace of every woman around the world. From the pioneers who shattered glass ceilings to the everyday heroes who uplift her community , each woman carries within her a story of triumph and resilience. Today, I honor the mothers who instill values of kindness and courage in their children, the sisters who stand as pillars of support through every storm, and the daughters who dream fearlessly of a brighter tomorrow. Let's also remember the unsung heroines whose names may never make headlines but whose contributions shape the fabric of society. Whether they're breaking barriers in boardrooms, classrooms, or households, women continue to inspire with their unwavering determination and boundless compassion. As we celebrate International Women's Day, let's recommit ourselves to creating a world where every woman and girl is empowered to pursue her dreams, where her voice is heard, and her worth is recognized. Together, let's strive for a future where gender equality isn't just a goal but a reality, where every woman can thrive and shine. TAKE YOUR CROWN

Women's Month, typically observed in March, is a time dedicated to celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women around the world. It also serves as an opportunity to raise awareness about gender equality and women's rights issues. In recent years, there has been an increased focus on integrating Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) principles into Women's Month observances and activities. DEI encompasses a broader spectrum of diversity beyond gender, including race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability, socioeconomic status, and more. By incorporating DEI principles into Women's Month, organizations and communities aim to create a more inclusive environment that acknowledges and celebrates the diverse experiences and contributions of all women, regardless of their backgrounds.

This month we recognize and honor the contributions, achievements, and experiences of women throughout history and in contemporary society. It's a time to reflect on the struggles and triumphs of women in various fields. As I think about our accomplishments, an old saying comes to mind. “We’ve come a long way baby”. This is our time to acknowledge progress, particularly in the context of social and cultural change. The advancements in women's rights reflects the journey we must continue towards gender equality and the recognition of women's achievements and contributions throughout history. Despite past obstacles and challenges, there has been significant progress for women I believe. However, I also acknowledge that there is still work to be done to achieve full equality and address ongoing issues and inequalities for women - like pay equity. Cheers to acknowledging the resilience, diversity, and impact of women's experiences and narratives shaping our world. During this month, let’s partake and enjoy the programs, initiatives and events that spotlight the history of amazing women. In my circles, we’re talking about our mental health, well-being, self-confidence, self-worth and specifically the difference between self-confidence and self-worth. Self-confidence is what we express externally. Self-worth is what we feel on the inside. To be the best of our highest and most fulfilling self, we need to master both. We are Worthy.

I simply can’t say “Happy Mother’s Day” with a straight face! Without feeling responsible and distressed. Not being able to reach a stage as a society where we have achieved complete gender equality. This is our own doing. Each one of us. Accountability should be the most foundational principle of them all. Because each one of us has made it more difficult for mothers and women in general to access equal opportunities, in one way or another. Consciously or unconsciously. It doesn’t matter because the result is the same. On their day and every day, I pledge to women and those who have chosen the path of becoming mothers. To continue being congruent with these beliefs and educate myself to recognize the biases in my actions. So, one day in my lifetime, I might be able to say “Happy Mother’s Day” with a straight face. For now, it is “Thank You, Mothers” for giving us the greatest opportunity there is. Life. ~~~ Click Carlos Larracilla and follow me [+🔔] for daily insights from building Wowledge. ⤷ We are making strategic HR programs and practices accessible to any organization, regardless of size, stage, or expertise level.

As we embark on Women's History Month, the Purpose Design Co. team reflects on the stories and struggles that have shaped this pivotal celebration. Women's History Month traces its roots back to a single day in 1908 when thousands of women marched through New York City, demanding better working conditions, voting rights, and an end to discrimination. This event, known as the Women's Day March, laid the groundwork for what would later become a global movement for gender equality. In 1980, President Jimmy Carter issued the first presidential proclamation declaring the week of March 8th as National Women's History Week. This was a significant step towards recognizing and honoring the contributions of women throughout history. In 1987, Congress declared March as Women's History Month, a time to celebrate the achievements and contributions of women in all aspects of society. Since then, Women's History Month has grown into a month-long celebration of women's resilience, courage, and triumphs. But Women's History Month is more than just a time to reflect on the past. It's a call to action, a reminder that the fight for gender equality is far from over. It's a time to uplift and amplify the voices of women everywhere, to break down barriers and build a more inclusive world for future generations. So as we honor the legacy of Women's History Month, let's also recommit ourselves to the ongoing work of creating a world where every woman and girl can thrive. Together, we can make history every day. #WomensHistoryMonth #PurposeDesign #SheMeansBusiness #BehindtheDesign #DesignforChange #CraftingSustainability
