Celebrate BMPP's Pho the Good of All, annual community celebration on Saturday, October 28, 2023, from 11 AM - 1 PM at Eat Street Crossing. https://lnkd.in/gQHhFbhP Hear from the inspiring doers about the work they are doing and enjoy a free bowl of delicious pho with us. For 10 years, we've seen the power of collective giving. Building our Giving Circle has been an extension of the cultures of generosity that we all come from. We read the reports showing that for decades, less than 1% of all philanthropic dollars has gone to Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander communities in Minnesota and beyond. So we asked ourselves, what could we do about it? We asked for systemic change, but we didn’t wait to do our part. We created the Bad Mo Pho Phamily (aka Building More Philanthropy with Purpose) Giving Circle. We are a group of Asian American families who came together to pool our resources to fuel change for good. For 10 years, we've witnessed the incredible leadership of many acting to improve things. There was, and is, no shortage of good people who want to do the work of advancing social justice, but so many had yet to access funding support. We simplified our application and process, and the project ideas poured in. Those who would have worried they couldn't write a great proposal or didn't have relationships with funders were not afraid to apply for BMPP grants. They found their way to us, and we've been able to invest in over 60+ projects. Our giving circle is for our families, and our children have a say in what we support. Most importantly, they learned alongside the adults and realized their communities are not just communities in need. They saw that many, many leaders who look like them have worthy and excellent ideas for how to make things better. We haven't just hoped things would change; we helped fuel the doers that create change. In this 10th year, we are so proud of what we've all achieved together and want to celebrate with you. From humble beginnings, our 10 years together have meant... We've invested in over 60 projects in the Upper Midwest. We've pooled together $300,000 to invest in leaders and organizations in Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander communities. We champion the doers who make our world more just, equitable and loving because when they act, we all win. To learn more about BMPP, please visit our website.

If you didn't know I am letting you in on the secret. The must not miss event of VenueConnect is the DILC Celebration for a Cause. It's an opportunity to spend time with the best in the industry for a great cause. There is laughter, dancing, drinks, and stories you would only believe if you attended. Many of you may not know but one of the responsibilities of the DILC committee is to provide over $20K in scholarships to IAVM educational opportunities to individuals in underrepresented populations. The majority of the funds raised for these scholarships are done with dollars we raise during this annual event. Since 2020 the donations have started to become smaller and smaller. I am reaching out to my network to help spark the giving. We are asking for individual donations of $67. If 300 people donate $67 we can hit the $20K before we even have the event. I have over 3K connections. This should be an easy ask. You don't have to be an IAVM member to donate. You don't have to attend VenueConnect or the event to donate. You just need to take a moment to click the link and make the donation. I know at least 1k of you who have spent more on a bar tab. 😏 CHALLENGE!!! If you have received a scholarship from DILC previously, here is your opportunity to give back. I challenge you to make a donation. If you have ever attended a conference or educational opportunity with me. I challenge you to donate. If you are a member of an underrepresented group in the industry. I challenge you to donate. If you know someone who would be an amazing corporate sponsor or donor to help us create next-level inclusive content. I challenge you to inbox me with more details and then donate. 😁 Donation Link: https://lnkd.in/eXtxZYm6 Always with LOVE...

Tomorrow is the 250th Anniversary of the Boston Tea Party and it's been a thrill to partner with Avalara on their reenactment in Boston Harbor as well as extensive research exploring America's increasingly complex relationship with tax. Today, Avalara CEO Scott McFarlane shared his thoughts in Fortune on this 250-year long tax evolution and how it's impacting businesses today (hint: it's not necessarily for the better). Tomorrow is the 250th Anniversary of the Boston Tea Party, and we’re reliving our own harbor tea dump reenactment. We brought a few colonial guests to join Scott McFarlane, Scott Peterson, Jayme Fishman, and Avalara on the Boston Harbor. Check out the recap of our recent event in Boston Harbor.
