I have blended in, taken on more responsibilities and will be making an impact. You will get the same opportunity as I received. I was looking for my “forever home” and I found it. What company is not? Rialtic will make you accountable. If you are up to the task, you will fit “like a glove”. I have. I couldn’t be more excited to be joining MedScout as VP of Engineering! Skylar Talley and Casey Shattuck have built a phenomenal team here that I’m honored to be part of, and MedScout is creating a product that the market already loves. Why MedScout? A few reasons: 1. Culture It was abundantly clear in the interview process how much time and intentionality has gone into building the culture here. Healthy culture that drives ownership and learning is a massive strategic advantage, especially in a startup where you need to move fast, and it’s clear they’ve invested deeply. (One example: the full team spends significant time at every offsite retrospecting the company values to make sure they’re actually following them and to update them where necessary. I can't wait to participate myself next month!) 2. People You can focus on culture all you want, but if you don’t hire the right people, it won’t matter. Everyone I met during the interview process was incredibly kind, very sharp, and deeply engaged. They asked tough questions interview after interview that were clearly focused not just on if I could deliver software, but also if I was the right leader to reinforce and grow their engineering culture. They also answered all of my questions with remarkable transparency, and that made it easy to enthusiastically opt in at the end of the process. I see why they've been able to hire so well! 3. Space I cut my technology teeth in healthtech, first at WellMatch working on healthcare pricing transparency, then at Muve Health building care management software for hip and knee replacement clinicians. There’s so much good to be done in healthcare, so much opportunity for innovating and adding efficiency. The chance to jump back into a space I really enjoy (especially without having to tangle with HIPAA) is really exciting! I'm only a few days in at this point, but so far, it's everything it was advertised to be during the interview process and then some. Several clients of a small envirotech company based in Melbourne had requested significant upgrades to the technology. But without a budget to hire software developers, the CTO turned to GitHub's Copilot to assist with coding. The productivity of the tech team is now 30-40% higher using GenAI, with better quality output, and happy clients. For a while, the senior leadership team wasn't aware GenAI was being used. Fortunately, it all turned out well but might not have been such a happy ending. Having a company policy in place for using GenAI at work is essential. More than just protocols, a policy should convey values and principles, how it aligns to strategic objectives...and signals leadership buy-in. More broadly, I expect this will be the initial impact of AI on jobs - hiring freezes.
