Today, we celebrate #OneGiantLeap with the 55th anniversary of Apollo 11. Since the day humans first walked on the Moon, many small (and large) steps have been taken to progress our understanding of space. What was once almost exclusively the domain of government is now a burgeoning place for the commercial space industry and exciting new discoveries and capabilities, connecting us all worldwide on an unprecedented scale. Interplanetary station Psyche was deemed ready for launch into space NASA has announced the successful completion of all tests of the interplanetary station Psyche, going into space in August of this year. Now the station is fully ready to launch, and to reach the asteroid Psyche, it should in 2026, according to the website of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory at NASA. The asteroid (16) Psyche is one of the most interesting bodies in the Main Belt to study and has only been observed with ground-based telescopes. It is the largest representative of metallic asteroids, which could be the core of a protoplanet or a fragment of one that formed in the early Solar System.

Former NASA Chief Historian William P Barry joined the Places and Profiles Podcast to discuss the history of NASA and the US space program. I imagine many of my connections, especially those who work in technology, appreciate a good "space" story when they read one. I am so impressed by the team at NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration who continue to keep the 47 year old Voyager 1 spacecraft alive.
