Have you heard of the MKR Effect? It stands for My Kitchen Rules, and you could even substitute MKR with any reality cooking show or renovation show. 📺 I’ve been told by hospitality venue owners that the MKR Effect creates customers who become “culinary armchair experts”. 🛋️ This means they spend a few months exposed to a cooking show 3-4 nights per week, and then after the season finale, fill the void in their week by going out to restaurants. 👨🏽🍳 They learn words from the chefs on TV. They see the way meals are presented. They even criticise as the judges do. 🗣️ Venues can no longer get away with staff who aren’t prepared for culinary armchair experts walking through their doors.
