Evidence-based policymaking is essential. This article sheds light on the challenges of workforce data used to drive billions of dollars in federal funding for primary care and how excluding PAs and APNs from the data may result in misallocation of resources. It also provides examples of how Colorado has led the nation in mitigating these challenges. 8moThe article rightly points out the flaws in the federal government's data collection on primary care shortage areas. By focusing solely on physicians and not including other crucial healthcare professionals like nurse practitioners and physician assistants, the data fails to provide a comprehensive understanding of the situation. A more comprehensive and accurate approach to data collection and policy implementation is necessary to bring about meaningful change and bridge the persistent gaps in healthcare access. Hopefully, this will happen soon. Thank you for sharing!
