STRATEGIC WORKFORCE PLANNING CAPABILITY It's no secret that strategic workforce planning poses significant challenges for most organisations, often leading them to adopt a reactive stance despite their best intentions. Several factors contribute to this predicament. Firstly, organisations frequently struggle with gathering and analysing workforce data effectively. Secondly, even if they excel at data collection, they often lack individuals capable of interpreting and articulating the insights obtained. Lastly and most commonly, some organisations just lack the internal expertise required for effective workforce planning. For senior leaders seeking to bolster their workforce planning capabilities and considering external support, I am currently working with three highly proficient workforce planning specialists. Each of these professionals boast extensive experience across both public and private sectors and can be made available within a short timeframe of 2-3 weeks. 7moGreat comments Richard. From what I have seen workforce planning is rare and is not taking into consideration of the strategic direction of the organisation and changes in talent required and volume of talent. That all needs to be overlaid with the internal and external talent factors too. So perhaps having a plan would be a good start never mind strategic workforce planning.
