A geotechnical survey is a necessity for any construction project to gain an in-depth understanding of underlying soil conditions in order to mitigate costly issues. Richard Zamora, PE, Director of Geotechnical Services, and Zack Munstermann, PE, Geotechnical Engineer, discuss a few of the top issues a good geotechnical survey can help to identify and mitigate in your project. https://brnw.ch/21wKQjZ

Settlement Calculation for Normally Consolidated Clays: The Methodology | Geotechnical Engineering This Lecture 51 in series of my YouTube Channel “Geotechnical Engineering Consultancy Tips” describes about the Method of Settlement Calculation for Normally Consolidated Clays as per IS: 8009(Part-I) -1976 Reaffirmed 2018 which lays down that settlement 'S' for normally consolidated plastic cohesive clay soil indicating cohesion is given by S={Cc/(1+e0)} x Ht x Log [(Po+P)/Po]. The same has been explained with different relevant reference clauses of the IS code using it’s figures as well along with a figure of the foundation and the influence zone of which the settlement is to be worked with a case example of a Strip Footing and clarifying it with a format in a Table form for better understanding for all Civil Engineers, Geotechnical Engineers and Structural Engineers #geotechnicalengineeringconsultancytips #anuragkapoor #consolidationsettlement #settlementcalculationofnormallyconsolidatedclays #settlementofnormallyconsolidatedclays #settlementofcohesivesoils #howisconsolidationsettementcalculated #civilengineers #geotechnicalengineering #structuralengineers #IS:8009(Part-I)-1976Reaffirmed2018 #IS8009Part1 #IS1904:2021 #claylayersettlement https://lnkd.in/d83v3Ycu

Often the scope of services agreed to by the geotechnical firm and their client does not take advantage of opportunities to reduce construction cost and risk of below-ground work. So who should be responsible for determining the right geotechnical scope of services? #geotechnicalengineering #civilengineering #structuralengineering #foundationdesign #construction #riskmanagement
