Our customer is #lonely. She is not #lonely here!!! Here's why.👇 An elderly widowed lady purchased a vehicle from us several months ago. She's quite #lonely but what our #team has done is nothing short of incredible. Maybe once per week (sometimes more often) something special happens at our dealership. This same lady stops by... not to buy a car, not to service a car but to be around people. The entire showroom stops when she walks in. Her salesperson jumps up and says hello! Sure, you'd expect that. But, would you expect the exact same thing from everyone else in the showroom? Literally everyone from our intern to our sales manager. Everyone knows her name. She knows all of their names. Everyone stops and spends genuine time with her. Often long periods of time with genuine conversation. Everyone knows her story. She knows their stories. The entire team treats her like family. Not because they have to but because they want to! At our dealership we hire on #character not necessarily performance. Sure, we are not the highest volume. Sure, we sometimes miss our objectives. But, that's all sales related. What this #team never misses on is doing the right thing. That's what #character is. Classic case study about how to revive a sinking brand. One of their reviving strategies was like this: Earlier they used to sell bikes and did marketing like that only. Later they changed their marketing strategy. They used to advertise like they are selling dreams not bikes. One of their key advertising line was, "Jab bullet chaale duniya raasta de. (When bullet runs, world gives them road)". Now people can feel the brand value of Royal Enfield in their personal life. This, along with many other revival startegies proved to be a game changer in reviving this brand.

That’s lovely and all: but my question would be to any company: But do the staff get to pay their bills and get time with their families? Nice working spaces are all very well: but not if the wages are not following inflationary pressures. Ditto company ethos: is all of that supporting a positive and safe working place or glossing over it? The more “toys” and gimmicks: the more focused that attention should be, there have sadly been some extraordinary companies that provided near ludicrous levels of perks: but had the worst of “bro-culture” you could imagine. More than a few winding up in the national news for it. The tangible matters when your having to pick between heating or eating.
