Sometimes clubs are managed poorly, and struggle to survive, but here is a good club, with a good history, unable to get on with their landlords. If you are a sailing lawyer and might be able to help, then get in touch with them and offer your services. If you love sailing, and believe others should do too then perhaps put a few pounds into their campaign. If you work in the industry, and want an industry to be thriving, then make a corporate size donation - this way we can ensure our customers now and in the future will still be customers. More £££ = better hope of a positive outcome. https://lnkd.in/evKGmmmF

More on the bike lane debate from The Biking Lawyer LLP. Key points from the article: - EMS vehicles are not delayed by bike lanes in getting folks to emergency rooms as confirmed by the City of Toronto’s EMS leads. - There is not a petition of 50,000 people against the bike lanes on Bloor. It’s more like 13,000 who’ve signed over several years now and Cycle Toronto’s petition in support of bike lanes is approaching that number in just weeks. - Bike lanes are good for business! They boost sales in areas they are installed, attract higher spending clientele, can increase property values, and even attract talented work forces. - Bike lanes do not increase congestion, they move people around more efficiently, create safer driving routes (less collisions, less congestion), and get people out of single occupancy motor vehicle, which actually are the cause of congestion. - Side streets are not the answer. Unconnected segments of bike lanes that force cyclists to take circuitous routes on various side streets will not encourage people to get out of their cars and onto bikes; Transportation should be planned based on facts and data and systems thinking.

I don't need any excuse to talk about how great my guide dog Pebble is, but both Hugh Dickinson and Harriet May are running the London marathon in 2025 to raise money for Guide Dogs UK, so Hugh and I have put a video together to provide an insight into life with Pebs. Most of you already know how life changing guide dogs are, and this video gives a bit more detail about how Pebble and I work together and what she's trained to do. Pebble came at a difficult time when I'd experienced a big drop in my sight, and it's hard to put into words just how much confidence and strength she has given me. The important work than Guide Dogs UK do includes working with visually impaired children, teaching long cane skills, and of course training and providing guide dogs – all with the aim of supporting visually impaired people to live the life they choose. I would be hugely grateful if you could: 1. Watch and share the video. A lot of the issues which guide dog users come across in their daily lives are rooted in the fact that people don't fully understand what guide dogs do and why they are so important. Sharing this video with others will help raise awareness of how guide dogs provide safety and security to their owners. 2. If you're able to, please donate to Guide Dogs UK via either Hugh or Harriet's fundraising page - your money is going to a really good cause. 3. Come and support Hugh and Harriet on 27 April. While they're running, we'll be doing the equally important job of cheering them on (from the pub). I'll be arranging a watch party for Hugh – if you want to join just drop me a message. The video is here: https://lnkd.in/eSTcCyD5 Video description: images show me (a Caucasian woman with brown hair) speaking in my living room. As I speak we see images of me walking with a cane, then of busy London streets full of cars and pedestrians. As I begin to talk about Pebble (a black labrador/retriever with a shiny coat and gentle brown eyes) we see me walking with Pebble and putting Pebble's harness on. Pebble finds the button at a pedestrian crossing and a seat on a train. We navigate complicated London streets including construction sites and crowded crossings. At the end of the video Pebble runs in a park and I give her a hug.

The amazing Paul White finished his incredible endurance cycle as the first ambassador to our #AdventureClub, cycling from Roscoff to Santander by pedal power alone! He has raised an amazing £445 so far and is just £55 from his target of £500. The money Paul has raised will go directly to the #AdventureClubBursary; it provides bursaries for young people to experience life-changing voyages aboard the Helen Mary R. These experiences go beyond sailing; they foster teamwork, resilience, and personal growth in a unique offshore environment. The young people that Morvargh Sailing Project engages with in Cornwall face considerable deprivation: • 44.3% of young people fall into the most disadvantaged tiers (1-3) of the Indices of Multiple Deprivation. • 32% are from the lowest-income families (tiers 1-3 of the Income Deprivation Domain). • 51% are excluded from employment opportunities (tiers 1-3 of the Employment Deprivation). • 35% lack attainment and skills (tiers 1-3 of educational disadvantage). • 30% are affected by impaired quality of life due to poor physical and mental health (tiers 1-3 of Health Deprivation). Morvargh's adventures profoundly impact the lives of participants and their wider family circles, but many cannot afford the voyage fee they have to pay. The Adventure Club bursary aims to fix this issue. Please help change a young person's life by donating! https://lnkd.in/e5qg5ka3

Let's Tim it up! Topic: Fees, Fees, Fees I can relate to this. Every store, restaurant, and drive-through includes some fee + a "suggested tip." I went to a local Big Sports Store. They had an 8% local improvement fee + a sales tax, so I paid local sales tax + 8%. That was my last time going to that store. Would you like to round up for a charity? Trust me, I donate to my favorite charities, such as vets and local animal rescues; I feel guilty saying no. I lived in Europe for nine years and loved the VAT (Value Added Tax); the price was the price, and it wasn't customary to give a tip, so this video is pretty accurate. Don't get me wrong; I usually tip well if the service and food warrant it. However, it feels more like an entitlement vs. what tips were meant to represent. What is your opinion? Tim
