Rijkswaterstaat International’s Post

In the European sand belt, agricultural soils face significant challenges including droughts and acidification, exacerbated by climate change. These issues have profound implications for current agricultural practices and future sustainability. To address these challenges, Rijkswaterstaat and Provincie Gelderland are collaborating on the LIFE CO2SAND project. This initiative aims to mitigate soil degradation by strategically applying a thin layer of clay to increase the lutum content in sandy soils to 8%. The project's objective is to treat 700 hectares of agricultural land by 2027, effectively enhancing soil resilience and promoting sustainable agricultural practices. How do they plan on doing this?
