Red squirrels are one of my favourite native British wildlife species. This beautiful species is endangered in England and Wales due to interspecific competition with grey squirrels, diseases such as Squirrelpox, and habitat loss. Red squirrels typically live in coniferous and deciduous woodlands and need sufficient tree canopy structure and woodland connectivity to efficiently forage and reduce the risk of predation. Deforestation and changing land uses (housing, roads, industrial) are causing some woodland areas to become isolated or destroyed, no longer able to support and sustain red squirrels and many other wildlife populations. It is incredibly important that proper planning and risk assessments are carried out for forestry operations so that impacts are minimised for our native species.
Long week? Slow your racing thoughts and escape to nature. Notice the dappled sunlight of a woodland in summertime...the russet gleam of a Red Squirrel's coat as it leaps gracefully... birdsong fills the air...hear the rustle and swish of leaves on the breeze. This is your sign to step outside today.🍃 #RSPBNatureBreak

Long game goals. Last October half term I planted some bulbs in the pouring rain. I’d missed doing it the year before and kicked myself all last spring when there was no colour in that part of the garden. So I got my act together and bought some bulbs. I made it my mission to get them in the ground before the end of October. It was satisfying to take the action at the time. Especially satisfying in the rain for some reason :) Then nothing. Just soil. For at least 3 months. Then a sprinkle of snowdrops. Then some nice yellow daffs. Now the juicy tulip display is on its way. It’s very satisfying. The Aliums might show up in a month or two. The soil might not be right, I don’t know yet. Looking at the results, I’m happy and this year I’ve plans to put even more bulbs in so it’s even more abundant 🌸 —— Why am I wanging on about flowers? To remind you that to a grow a business or career, you’ve got to think about the long game. 👊Long game goals might feel like going out in the pouring rain when you’d rather be inside all snug - And you can get outside. 👊Long game goals might feel like staring as soil with no green shoots for months - And you can keep the faith. 👊Long game goals won’t unfold exactly as you plan - And you’ll never know what will happen unless you start planting those bulbs. What long term goals can you prioritise for the rest of this month? #foundercoach #longgame #leadershipcoaching
