Yes, we want our company to grow. Yes, we want our teams to grow. Yes, we want to service as many companies as we can. BUT. At the end of the day, our reputation comes first. There’s no growth – at least, not sustainable growth –  if you forget your values along the way. We want to be known for providing the best creative, production, and post services in the industry, and that goes for everyone: client AND our teams. So we make damn sure never to bite off more than we can chew. Because going from a 10 to a 100 headcount isn’t impressive if your company loses sight of the vision that made it a place where people actually WANT to be in the first place.

I’ve had a great first month at Opus 2. Still so much to learn, but some initial observations and reminders: Great cultures are created and reinforced in every corner of an organization. We seem to have a special culture here. I’ve been struck by how many places our culture is cultivated – and how there’s no central location, person, or style/approach that defines our culture. Shoutouts to a few colleagues who have stood out in my early days as culture creators and champions, each doing so in a different way: Barney Robinson, Kim Bookout, Harriet Fyfe, Susana Branum, Yosef Mahmood, Taryn Auchecorne, Smriti Sinha. I can’t wait to keep building relationships across this company and watching our culture flourish. Alignment is critical between Sales, Marketing, Client Success, & Operations. Obviously. But what the last month has reinforced is how these functions need something to align around. It can be anything – common goals, motivating rally cries, or desired shared experiences. But ‘alignment’ doesn’t happen just because you have smart, hard-working, and kind people who want to get along and like working together. Nothing trumps product/market fit. In contrast to all the new companies/products popping up daily around the GenAI buzz, our solutions have been developed over the last 2 decades, and all center around a very real & challenging set of problems associated with Litigation & Arbitration processes. With deep understanding around the problems facing our clients, and empathy for the impact of those problems, we have confidence that our solution has relevance for every law firm and arbitration institution around the world. “Discovery” then becomes about understanding contextual factors and critical nuances, as opposed to exploring whether there’s a high-level fit. On to Month #2...can't wait!

"Practice what you preach".. yesterday, we lived that mantra. Our off-site strategy session with the Truliance team wasn’t just productive; it was energizing. We rolled up our sleeves and dove into planning for 2025 while refining our path for the rest of 2024. Days like this remind me why I love what we do. There’s something special about seeing the team’s ideas flow, collaborating without boundaries, and collectively shaping the future of our organization. These sessions aren’t all about strategy...they’re about connection, growth, and building something meaningful together. 2x’d our teams in a year… 4 years ago, it was just Joe and I. Yes, we get insane results for clients. But the thing I’ll be the most proud of is the culture we’ve built. It has to come from the top-down. We take 100% responsibility for everything that impacts us and our team. This includes our: - Challenges - Successes - Failures - Everything in between We turn problems into solutions. We do not EVER blame external factors. We invest in 1. Education 2. Development 3. Peer support Why do we do this? Why work so hard to set the right culture? Because if we don’t ask for only the absolute best from ourselves… Why would any client trust us? Why would they pay us? Why would they keep choosing us? Our brand’s growth goes hand in hand with delivering success for our clients. So we take full ownership of our actions by delivering industry-leading work. That’s just how it works here. The best part is that every team member has this same mindset. We want to remain at the absolute forefront of best practices. Nothing lesser is acceptable. Seeing 65+ people now makes it all still feel a little surreal! Incredibly grateful. And pumped for what we have in store for 2024 😇
