#RIT_Sol_Inc Wishes Everyone !! Happy Independence Day! Let's make an effort to put partisanship aside and remember how much we can accomplish together. Let's remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for the freedom we enjoy every day. And let's remember how a few courageous men and women stood up for what they believed in and changed the world forever. We can accomplish so much when we find common ground for the better of our country and the world. Don't let others divide us and undermine the greatest strength we have --each other.

On “Freedom’s Eve,” or the eve of January 1, 1863, the first Watch Night services took place. On that night, enslaved and free African Americans gathered in churches and private homes all across the country awaiting news that the Emancipation Proclamation had taken effect. At the stroke of midnight, prayers were answered as all enslaved people in Confederate States were declared legally free. Union soldiers, many of whom were black, marched onto plantations and across cities in the south reading small copies of the Emancipation Proclamation spreading the news of freedom in Confederate States. Only through the Thirteenth Amendment did emancipation end slavery throughout the United States. But not everyone in Confederate territory would immediately be free. Even though the Emancipation Proclamation was made effective in 1863, it could not be implemented in places still under Confederate control. As a result, in the westernmost Confederate state of Texas, enslaved people would not be free until much later. Freedom finally came on June 19, 1865, when some 2,000 Union troops arrived in Galveston Bay, Texas. The army announced that the more than 250,000 enslaved black people in the state, were free by executive decree. This day came to be known as "Juneteenth," by the newly freed people in Texas. #freedom #Juneteenth #katy #stafford #houston #houstontx #cypresstx ##missouricitytx

FREEDOM We all love our freedoms and love to live in countries that promote and cherish freedom. Today, I was tested by a high school student who asked me: ”What do presidents, prime ministers, and politicians mean by freedom?” I could not come up with a single simple answer, so started to go through a list. The student wrote them all down and then asked me: ”Would you give up some or all your freedoms for the rest of your life if in return all famine and poverty in the world were made to disappear?” I answered “yes”. Does each of our freedoms have a price? What are the top 5 freedoms in your view?

Independence Day or a Regular Holiday? The possessions we sincerely struggle for usually hold a special place in our hearts, and the same applies to Independence Day. This day symbolizes our freedom and our right to live on our own terms. Isn't it important to treat this day with respect, pride, and a commitment to serve the Nation to create a better society? I propose and request that the #GovernmentofIndia recognize Independence Day as a National Service Day rather than treating it as a regular national holiday. The day we achieved freedom is of supreme importance, and it should be used productively by each responsible citizen to instill the right values in the minds of our new generation. Instead of the usual history lessons, schools could impart knowledge about lesser-known freedom fighters whose stories are not included in standard textbooks. Offices, rather than merely hosting flag ceremonies with dismal attendance, should engage in mandatory community service projects. A better nation is built by responsible citizens, and the seed of that accountability needs to be planted and nurtured. Without this sense of duty, the dream of a great nation cannot be realized. Let's use Independence Day to foster a culture of service and responsibility, ensuring that our freedom is honored through our actions and dedication to the greater good. #78thindependenceday #freedom #respectnation #nationalserviceday #incredibleindia #risingbharat #goi

Independence Day or a Day of Reflection As we approach the 78th Indian Independence Day, it's a time to reflect on the values and freedoms that were hard-won by our forefathers. But today, as thousands of doctors take to the streets demanding justice, we must ask ourselves: What kind of independence do we truly have? When evidence of crimes is blatantly ignored, destroyed in plain sight, and those responsible are protected instead of held accountable, we have to question the state of our democracy. When fear of arrest silences the voices of those who stand for justice, we must ponder the freedoms we celebrate. Independence is not just about the absence of colonial rule. It's about the presence of justice, the protection of rights, and the freedom to speak out against wrongs. As we raise our flags today, let's also raise our voices—for justice, for truth, and for a nation where independence is meaningful for all. What does independence mean to you in today's context? #Justice #Democracy

Why We Must Protect Our Freedoms on Independence Day. The 4th of July is a day to reflect, remember, celebrate and protect our freedoms. From a historical perspective, the Declaration of Independence set forth a unique ideal which has become the cornerstone value of America; enshrining our rights to Life Liberty and Pursuit of Happiness. We fought to achieve our Independence from forces without, and then from within to abolish slavery, women’s suffrage, and civil rights for all. But now we are challenged by politicians from within who seek to limit and stifle our rights to free speech by censorship and other acts. On this 248th birthday of our country, we must always reflect on the importance of our individual liberties, and fight to protect them for our future generations. #4thofjuly #independenceday #independenceday2024 #happy4thofjuly #happyfourthofjuly #freedom #freedomofspeech #freedomofpress #civilliberties #civilrights #freedomofreligion #freespeech #firstamendment #patriots #donaldtrump #maga #makeamericagreatagainagain #trumptrain #trumpsupporters #americanvalues #constitution #declarationofindependence #billofrights

Juneteenth, officially Juneteenth National Independence Day, is a federal holiday in the United States. It is celebrated annually on June 19 to commemorate the ending of slavery in the United States. The holiday's name is a portmanteau of the words "June" and "nineteenth", as it was on June 19, 1865, when Major General Gordon Granger ordered the final enforcement of the Emancipation Proclamation in Texas at the end of the American Civil War. Although this date commemorates enslaved people learning of their freedom under the Emancipation Proclamation, this only applied to former Confederate states. There remained legally enslaved people in states that never seceded from the Union. These people did not gain their freedom until the ratification of the 13th Amendment to the United States Constitution on December 6, 1865. #juneteenth #juneteenth2024 #freedom #Independence #racialequity
