For my latest Esquire article, I interviewed the Golden Bachelor and his fiancé, Theresa. The number of single people over 50 is growing exponentially and they don’t want to give up on love and romance. It’s time to acknowledge that we need more programming, role models, and entertainment that show love and romance for those over 50! I hope the Golden Bachelorette is next! #ROARforward into new love in the second half of life. https://bit.ly/3NSynHT

Decoded: Peacock Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist. This series is one that caught me off guard. It has served as a redemption arc to the acting career of @kevinhart4real backed by a stellar supporting cast. This story isn't one that is limited to one thread of a larger narrative but creates more layers the further in we go while consistently developing each layer with subtle nods to the layers developed. The realities of the history tied into it are used in clever reinterpretations of the truth that lies behind it of the racial realities of the times pushes this narrative forward in wildly exciting and unexpected ways. I wasn't waiting for a major twist at the end because each beat brought with it twists and turns that made me question everything i thought I knew about this stacked roster of well-developed and complex characters. There is no doubt in my mind that this series will see itself through and drive the industry forward with bold and structured storytelling that never once feels a need to explain itself or create a sense of being more than what it is. As a first-generation immigrant of color in Georgia, there is so much that has changed and so much that has stayed the same and this show breaks the patterns of those that came before it while paying homage to one of the greatest eras in the development of Blackness as a mindset and a source of empowerment in these United States. @samuelljackson @tarajiphenson @doncheadle and @theterrencehoward lead with power and impact in a show so compelling and rewarding that each episode feels like an act of luxurious indulgence. Yours faithfully, Qavah. #review #thoughts #qavah #actor #dreamer #maker #create #content #evolve #nextsteps #10000hours #neverstop #atlanta

Minister of Connection. Podcaster. Speaker. Ritualist: Helping people live and work more connected to Self, Others, the Land & Spiritually. 1:1 Work, Groups, Custom Rituals & Support for life’s big transitions.
One of the most powerful parts of my conversation with Judith and Lily was about how connection and difference aren’t opposites, and difference is actually necessary for connection. Being connected doesn’t mean we have to erase or ignore our differences, but instead we can learn how to hold space for each other while embracing them. We may have the same values, like caring for our kids, but the way that shows up can look totally different for each of us. Instead of arguing about whose way is “better”, what if we tried to understand how those differences were shaped? This episode is live now. Why has American Idol been one of the nation’s top TV shows for decades? Stories! In my wife’s words: American Idol is a masterclass for storytelling. Every singer that makes it on the show is extremely talented, but there are also thousands of extremely talented singers who DON’T make it onto the show. Why? Because American Idol screens for stories, not voices. They want the audience to feel an emotional connection. To be bought in. To root for the humans behind each voice. And they do that very effectively. Stories provide American Idol the avenue to connect with America year over year even though the premise of the show is the exact same every single season. In business we can do the exact same thing. We can tell stories, we can connect emotionally, we can stand out from the sea of promotional jargon. With effective storytelling you can keep your audience engaged year over year even as your products and services may remain the same. It’s the better way.

As a lifelong comic book enthusiast who has built a career celebrating diverse narratives, I was absolutely blown away by Netflix's Supacell! This show has quickly become one of my all-time favorite superhero series. Rapman, also known as Andrew Onwubolu, masterfully uses a mutation of sickle cell disease as the origin of superpowers, presenting an innovative and deeply moving approach to the science fiction and superhero genre. Supacell isn't just a show; it's a cultural milestone that challenges stereotypes associated with the Black community and showcases the transformative potential of media to connect and inspire. The series follows five seemingly ordinary Black people from South London, all linked by a family history of sickle cell disease and the sudden emergence of superpowers. What sets Supacell apart is its raw, authentic portrayal of the characters' struggles and triumphs. These individuals, like Michael (Tosin Cole), who discovers he can time travel, and Sabrina (Nadine Mills), who learns she has telekinetic abilities, grapple with personal dilemmas such as job insecurity, poverty, and violence, all while trying to navigate their newfound powers. Supacell boldly confronts societal failings and shatters narrow portrayals of Black life, offering a profound commentary on resilience and the complexity of the human experience. Supacell is a game-changer in superhero storytelling. Have you experienced it? #netflix #entertainment #superhero #inspire
