I have recently started doing some expert witness work involving skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, and entry fee life care CCRCs. It’s interesting to discover how my nearly 30 years of operations management experience is so helpful to my attorney clients and how my knowledge and experience is helping them to build the strongest cases possible. #expertwitness #seniorcare

NPs say it's harder than ever to find two collaborating physicians. Often hundreds of miles away, the physicians are not needed, rarely consulted, and cost money. PCNP President Amanda Laskoskie speaks to KDKA News on Pennsylvania's requirements for NPs to obtain written agreements with two collaborating physicians, and how these requirements act as obstacles to caring for patients. Amanda explains that one NP she recently spoke with "may speak to her collaborating physician once or twice a year, but every month, every nurse practitioner in her practice – I believe she has four – they pay 2 to 3 percent of revenue for that month to that collaborating physician for that agreement." #NursePractitioners #FullPracticeAuthority #Pennsylvania #HealthcareAccess #HealthcareWorkers #SB25 #HB1825 #CareForPA

💚 Attention Managers, Area/Regional Managers, and Directors of Residential and Nursing Homes! As the demand for personalised care in residential and nursing homes continues to grow, I would like to know: What do you think has the greatest impact on improving the quality of care for patients and residents? 1. CQC Communication and Standards: Clear and consistent communication from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) regarding standards and expectations, providing guidance and clarity to care providers. 2. Staff Training and Education: Upskilling staff to enhance their understanding of complex care needs and management. 3. Use of Technology: Leveraging tools such as Medication Management Systems or Patient Record Management Systems to boost efficiency, improve accuracy, and save time, allowing staff to dedicate more attention to patients/residents. 4. Staffing Levels: Ensuring optimal staffing levels to provide more one-on-one time with residents, reducing employee stress and improving individualised care. I'm really interested in getting your thoughts and insights on this! #Healthcare #ElderCare #NursingHomes #ResidentialCare #CareQuality #StaffTraining #HealthcareTechnology #CQCStandards #CareManagement #QualityCare #HealthcareLeadership

Recent Press Ganey report reveals that there is a significant difference in perceptions of safety culture among healthcare staff. While senior management reported the highest perceptions of safety culture at 4.53, registered nurses, advanced practice providers, and security team members had significantly lower perceptions of safety, ranging from 3.91 to 3.95. This disconnect indicates that healthcare facilities need to conduct an independent assessment to identify the root causes and true feelings of staff. Secured & Prepared Consulting can help bridge this gap. Our unique approach can improve perceptions of safety and mitigate the risk of violence. "I can’t emphasize enough how important nurse practitioners are to the Community Health Centers, but more importantly – it’s about patients first. Patients are the most important part of this equation. Patients are the ones who can’t access health care. It’s not just primary care, it’s behavioral health services. Nurse practitioners are filling that gap day in and day out across the state. We have 375 locations across Pennsylvania. We cannot find enough physicians to care for those folks. 80% of the million people we care for every day are on Medicaid or uninsured. Nurse practitioners are the backbone of what we do day in and day out. We employ more than 300 nurse practitioners across Pennsylvania. They care for 750,000 patients every year. That’s why Senate Bill 25 and House Bill 1825 are so incredibly important to the future of health care." – Eric Kiehl, PA Association of Community Health #NursePractitioners #CareForPA #FullPracticeAuthority #HB1825 #SB25 #AccessToCare #PatientsFirst #CommunityHealthAccess
