Put simply there will not be full-scale adoption of EV's without an increase in mining activity. This is a familiar refrain we have heard over and over. Technology is constantly evolving making mining safer, more sustainable, and more productive at the same time. #CopperMining #MiningTechnology #SustainablePractices

Michael Zolotov and I recently recorded the first episode of the Razor Labs Expert Series. 🌎 This is just a sneak peek to mark Earth Day, in which we discuss the significant invisible energy drains ⚡ that can be addressed with a new generation of condition monitoring solutions like DataMind AI. #conditionmonitoring #performancemonitoring #pumps #reliabiliy #assetmanagement #energyconsumption #mining #miningtech #miningequipment
🌍Today, we are commemorating Earth Day. As the mining industry worldwide strives for greater sustainability and efficiency, technology's role becomes increasingly crucial. ⚡️In this sneak peek of the new Razor Labs Expert Series, I talk about the low-hanging fruit of operational improvements that can significantly lower mining equipment's energy consumption. For example, pumps account for a significant portion of global power consumption. At typical mining sites, while mills might draw more power per unit, the sheer number of pumps (often over 100 at a single site) means their cumulative energy use is massive. By ensuring the performance of optimal pumps, the mining industry can prevent energy wastage, which might range from 10% to 25% of the total energy consumed by each pump, significantly reducing the ecological footprint of mining operations. By embracing technologies that offer real-time monitoring and predictive maintenance, we can make substantial strides toward a more sustainable and economically feasible future in mining and other industries. #carbon #emissions #environmentalfootpring #carbonfootprint #smartenergymanagement #mining #miningequipment #miningtechnology #miningnews #ai #conditionmonitoring #performancemonitoring

An expert at being the bridge between technical companies and businesses wanting to leverage that technology for organizational value
My latest latest article is a book review outside of my normal focus on AI. As I'm in the renewable energy business these days, I found "The War Below" to be an excellent book about the issues surrounding lithium and copper mining. It's even handed and informative. https://lnkd.in/gQ2dCmXp

A shift from a fuels-based to an electricity-based operating model can accelerate the current “slow burn” technological transformation of the mining industry, says a report on a new major industry survey. However, more innovation in asset design is key to broad, successful electrification. #theminingtechreport State of Play

The mining industry is driving towards decarbonization through electrification. But due to the vast scale of energy use in mining, the industry also needs to become operationally more energy efficient. For insight into this topic, check out Global Mining Review's January/February issue, (https://lnkd.in/gue39fyx) where CanmetMINING examines the Railveyor System at Agnico Eagle Goldex. Their study compared the Goldex Railveyor system's projected energy usage against the measured totals, validating the claim that Railveyor offers a highly energy-efficient material haulage solution. Learn how Railveyor is leading the way towards a greener mining future - available today. #Mining #Innovation #Decarbonization 🌍🛤️💡

With climate change on everyone’s mind, emission reduction targets have become a major focus of every sector, but especially within the mining industry. The world’s biggest mining companies have set their sights on ambitious net-zero targets by 2050. However, as the deadline draws ever closer, concerns have arisen regarding the progress of these plans, with some companies even admitting they will likely miss short-term targets. Read more about navigating net-zero and whether miners can meet emission reduction targets here: https://lnkd.in/geHPVgz7 #miningtechnology #mineaustralia #netzero #emissionreduction #mining #esg #bradwtaylor

A great share from Sophie-Anne Legendre on the need for a better extractive sector. Just a few months away from COP16 in #cali, the need for discussions beyond Blame & Shame Game (BSG) are crucial if we are serious about a green / sustainable transition. Capitals Hub Canada with their regional partners are currently working on bringing together a group of like-minded individuals / organizations to bring recommendations to COP16! Transitions are complex and they can only succeed through collaboration. #miningnews #sustainablemining

“…many policymakers in Washington still do not fully understand the hurdles and often decades-long permitting and development timelines in the U.S.” A quote that will come as no surprise to anyone in the mining industry. Now if we can just make the required change(s) so that we can strengthen our own economy, and build stronger supply chains.

I Help Brands Tell Their Sustainability Story | ESG & Energy Public Relations | IFRS FSA Credential Holder: Linking Sustainability and Finance
"Better communication will be essential if the government and mining companies are to convince people of the need to increase critical minerals production in time to meet net zero timelines." This article reminds me of a stat that in Canada, nearly 70% of young people say they would not consider a career in the mining sector – lower than that of even the oil and gas industry. From workforce to local community, the industry faces an uphill battle. But revitalizing the industry is more important than ever to reducing emissions. #mining #netzero https://lnkd.in/gjndQ2Pn
