🌍Today, we are commemorating Earth Day. As the mining industry worldwide strives for greater sustainability and efficiency, technology's role becomes increasingly crucial. ⚡️In this sneak peek of the new Razor Labs Expert Series, Michael Zolotov discusses the low-hanging fruit of operational improvements that can significantly lower mining equipment's energy consumption. For example, pumps account for a significant portion of global power consumption. At typical mining sites, while mills might draw more power per unit, the sheer number of pumps (often over 100 at a single site) means their cumulative energy use is massive. By ensuring the performance of optimal pumps, the mining industry can prevent energy wastage, which might range from 10% to 25% of the total energy consumed by each pump, significantly reducing the ecological footprint of mining operations. Aurora Energy Metals is pleased to be featured in Mining Journal’s “Uranium Outlook 2023” report. #1AE holds the largest mineable measured #uranium deposit in the United States. Large in scale, well-defined and presenting low geological risk, managing director, Greg Cochran sees the project’s clear pathway to development as a differentiator. The #ASX-listed company’s two-state #development strategy will see mining the deposit in southern Oregon, and processing the ore in a plant to be situated just across the border, on private land, in Nevada. The location of the plant takes advantage of the nearby hydroelectricity fed powerline, as well as an existing paved road with access to the US 95 highway. #Nevada, an acknowledged leading #mining jurisdiction, also has a more straightforward and well-established permitting procedure. Mining budgets are often seen as a safer bet, offering a 100% guarantee of profit once operations begin. This assurance naturally drives higher investment, leading to ever-increasing mining budgets. On the other hand, exploration budgets tell a different story. Exploration is inherently risky; the success rate can vary dramatically, from nearly zero in some cases to very high in favorable scenarios, such as iron ore (Fe). This uncertainty often leads to cautious investment, resulting in lower exploration budgets.
