Since I was a kid, LaGuardia #Airport (KLGA/LGA) was infamous for being quite simply, awful. And everyone (e.g. political leaders) kept saying that we should do something about it, but no one ever did. Then one day, back a good number of years ago, Joe Biden quite famously said, "It's like a third-world country," when referring to LaGuardia Airport. Well not too much time later, poof! Everyone found billions of dollars as if they were stuck in between the couch cushions at The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey and thus began construction on the "new" LaGuardia. I have since joked that the best way for #NYC subways to get more funding would be to have now President Biden ride the subway and declare it like a third world country. I'm now expanding that joke. Everyone should ask invite to their airport, metro system, etc. and declare it third world. Why? It worked. Not only did they build a shiny new airport, they build a great shiny new airport. ACI Airport Council International ranks #airports. For the past three years (and I also believe seven out of the last eight) Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport - MSP has ranked first in the 25MM-40MM passenger / year category. It's now tied, with, as you've probably guessed by now, LaGuardia. Literally a case of going from worst to first. To all those involved, please take a bow. Very well deserved. Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE) forecasts that 2024 passenger traffic will surpass 2019 numbers! ✈ 9.9 million passengers traveled through Hopkins in 2023, up 13.5% from 8.7 million passengers in 2022. September, October, and November of last year saw higher numbers of passengers than the same months in 2019.    Last year Aer Lingus launched its nonstop flight to Dublin in May, the first transatlantic flight from Cleveland since 2018. Alaska Airlines' flight to Seattle and Frontier Airlines' flight to Montego Bay, Jamaica also began last year. Still to come, Frontier announced it was establishing a crew base in Cleveland, which entails roughly 400 new jobs here.   Hopkins is the largest and busiest airport in Ohio, therefore changes such as added flights, bases, and increased passenger traffic can boost the local economy. This aligns with Downtown Cleveland, Inc.'s projections that we will surpass pre-pandemic visitor levels in 2024.
