Stratolaunch makes history with the first powered flight of the Talon-A hypersonic vehicle! The Talon-A is a fully reusable, autonomous hypersonic testbed, designed to fly at speeds up to Mach 6 (approximately 4,500 mph), well within the hypersonic speed range (Mach 5+). It operates autonomously, without the need for an onboard pilot. This reduces safety concerns and enables more complex flight testing which are critical for advancements in defence and space exploration. The Stratolaunchs unique design of two fuselages does not require a pilot in each fuselage. The plane is entirely controlled from the left fuselage with the left being used for data and equipment storage. #Stratolaunch #Hypersonic

The RLV LEX-03 mission, conducted at the Aeronautical Test Range (ATR) in Chitradurga, Karnataka, demonstrated ISRO's advanced autonomous capabilities and robust technology. Mission Objectives and Achievements The primary goal of the RLV LEX-03 mission was to replicate high-speed landing conditions and validate critical technologies for future Reusable Launch Vehicles. The successful execution underscores ISRO's proficiency in developing sophisticated guidance algorithms essential for Orbital Re-entry Missions. Technical Highlights 🚀Launch and Landing: Released from an Indian Air Force Chinook Helicopter at 4.5 km altitude, Pushpak executed precise cross-range correction maneuvers, landing at the runway centerline. 🚀Aerodynamic Design: Pushpak's low lift-to-drag ratio required a landing speed exceeding 320 km/h. A brake parachute and landing gear brakes ensured safe deceleration. 🚀Autonomous Operations: Multisensor fusion with Inertial sensors, Radar altimeter, Flush air data system, Pseudolite system, and NavIC ensured accurate data for autonomous landing. Significance of Reusability Reusable space technology reduces costs and increases mission frequency. The reuse of Pushpak's winged body and flight systems from the LEX-02 mission highlights ISRO's robust and reliable design. Collaboration and Team Effort The success of RLV LEX-03 is a result of collaboration across ISRO centers and Indian institutions, including VSSC, SAC, ISTRAC, SDSC-SHAR, and others. Key industrial partners like the Indian Oil Corporation of India and the Airport Authority of India also played crucial roles. Future Prospects ISRO is now poised to develop the Orbital Reusable Vehicle (RLV-ORV), building on the technologies validated through the LEX missions. This ambitious project aims for autonomous re-entry and landing after orbital missions, making space more accessible and sustainable. The success of RLV LEX-03 marks a major milestone for ISRO and India's space exploration capabilities.
