Vote for Roca and help us win a Charity Navigator Community Choice Award! 🏆 At Roca, in addition to serving young people directly, we identify the people within the systems who are directly facing urban violence, and we relentlessly reach out. Then, we build meaningful relationships, have hard conversations, expect setbacks to be part of the change process, and always work towards better outcomes. This process improves not only our systems, but also makes us more effective and better partners. Your support can make a huge difference in the lives of young men and women in our program. By casting your vote, you're not just helping us; you're helping young people avoid violence, one decision at a time. Fostering open communication and transparency with the next generation is one of the best ways to get them engaged. Starting with simple activities like sharing family history or participating in charity runs can create meaningful interactions that introduce young beneficiaries to family wealth and social responsibility. As they grow, you can evolve these discussions to cover budgeting, investing, and family values, preparing them to understand and manage wealth effectively. Men of Nottingham and Nottinghamshire - we need your help... Juno Women's Aid is currently fighting what the National Police Chiefs' Council describes as an "epidemic of offending", with a recent report showing a 37% increase in violent crimes against women and girls since 2018. In total, the charity has supported nearly 3,000 women and more than 500 children in the last year - up six and nine per cent respectively on the previous 12 months. Tasarla L., Yasmin Rehman and the team do an incredible job but they need more support, which is where #Notts500 comes in. The idea behind #Notts500 is two-fold. On a fundamental level, it's asking men for a £2 per month donation to the charity to help fund its vital work supporting survivors of domestic violence and abuse. But beyond that, it's about starting the conversation. It's about enabling change and making sure we raise the next generation in the right way. As men, we have a responsibility to hold each other to account and tackle the spiral of domestic violence – we want #Notts500 to be a conversation starter that leads to real change in terms of attitudes, outlooks and awareness. I'm incredibly proud to stand alongside Kevin Smith, Amani Darr and Al Booth as ambassadors for this campaign, and I would urge all men to pledge that £2 per month and be part of the change. https://lnkd.in/eqteSvxC
As part of our ongoing support of Juno Women's Aid, our director Tom Snee has been named as an ambassador for the newly launched Notts500 campaign. The initiative calls on 500 men across Nottinghamshire to pledge £2 a month in support of women and families affected by domestic violence. In the photo, Tom is joined by fellow ambassadors Kevin Smith of Marchini Curran Associates - Architects and Designers, TDX Group's Amani Darr, Notts TV presenter Al Booth and Tasarla Larner, Juno’s fundraising and communications manager. As Tom puts it: “While the money raised will be of huge support to the charity’s ongoing essential work with survivors, the Notts500 campaign is as much about advocacy and ensuring that conversations are being had and action is being taken.” Join us in standing up to violence against women - pledge your support today and make a difference. 🔗 Join the campaign here: https://lnkd.in/eregYfjX #Notts500 #StandAgainstViolence #JunoWomensAid #EndDomesticViolence

NPC (New Philanthropy Capital) has released the Partners for Change report, which was funded by Charities Aid Foundation (CAF). It's an insightful strategy proposal for the next government to consider as it's packed out with information about what the government could do to move philanthropy in the UK forward. There are: 🎯 Eight recommendations for putting the partnership between government and charities on a strong footing 🎯 Nine recommendations in priority policy areas where civil society and government can work together to make change 🎯 Nine recommendations about how charities and funders can work together. Includes topics about in-house giving strategies, how impact and data can be used, ways the inequalities that society is addressing could be addressed, how giving can be used to respond to the climate crisis, how giving can guide the government's response to criminal justice, and how children and young people should have a seat at the table. Let's continue to work together to make change happen. #makingchange #philanthropy #givingstrategies https://lnkd.in/ewu7yTHS

Human Trafficking is a Global Health Crisis that we all need to be aware of. We Run Oakland: For Children was formed because of the high incidence of trafficking in the city of Oakland and Alameda County. However, this issue is not unique to Oakland - the perils of trafficking impact many communities in CA and the United States. No matter what country, state, county, or city you live in, we should all share the humanitarian goal of protecting one another, especially the most vulnerable. To that end, we welcome you to have an Oakland mentality in this anti-trafficking movement. Build community power through awareness, conversation, advocacy, and action. There is even a virtual option to participate, so we have all our bases covered. We would love to see We Run Oakland in your city...We Run Oakland in (insert your city) _____, you fill in the blank! Register now! 💜 https://lnkd.in/gEYYqix
A Sista’s Touch (AST) & DopeOnly (DO) will be hosting our 7th Annual charity 5k run/walk, “We Run Oakland: For Our Children”, to raise human trafficking awareness. The event will be held on Saturday August 24, 2024, from 8am-12pm at Oakland Technical High School. While there are many causes to stand for, WE run and walk for the protection of our children against the greatest human rights violation of modern day time. The most effective way to protect our daughters/sons/grandchildren/nieces/nephews and our community, is to first recognize that human trafficking is a global public health crisis that requires community engagement to make an impact; AND to learn ways you can protect your family and others from the negative consequences to our community. This event is more than just a 5k, it is a family community event, designed to bridge community with resources to help prevent or to intervene where there is on risk of trafficking or exploitation. There are many ways to get involved: YOU can REGISTER to participate, YOU can INVITE others, YOU can DONATE, YOU can VOLUNTEER, and YOU can SHARE the information with family, friends, and professional organizations - We are always looking for Corporate Sponsors. The fight to stop human trafficking begins with YOU! Register now at: https://lnkd.in/gsE_parA Contact us at: Info@asistastouch.org
