𝐈𝐧 𝐁𝐞𝐥𝐠𝐢𝐮𝐦, 𝐚 𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐝 𝐚 𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐚𝐭 𝐬𝐞𝐚 Belgian company Parkwind has successfully tested an innovative new charging system that allows ships to receive power directly at sea without having to enter port. The system was deployed at the Nobelwind wind farm located 47 kilometers offshore. The power plant consists of 50 turbines and provides energy to about 190,000 households. The charging process is fully automated: it is enough to bring the ship to a special cable and wait for the automatic connection. During the tests, one of the CTV ships was successfully charged. Team members do not need to interact with the wires, which greatly simplifies the procedure. Currently, the charging station, located in the North Sea, delivers 2 MW of power to CTV vessels and up to 8 MW to local utility vehicles engaged in wind turbine maintenance. According to Parkwind, the system can also power the electrical systems of conventional vessels at sea. All electrical cables are placed in a surface position, which completely eliminates damage during mooring and battery charging. In the future, marine charging will reduce ships' dependence on diesel engines and reduce emissions #archtown #greenenergy

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗮𝗿𝗺𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘂𝘀 Large cranes, men with climbing harnesses and a day full of work and preparations to inspect a few wind turbines. Sounds like an operation of a huge scale and that also comes with an expensive price tag. Well that was then. Welcome to the world of droone inspections. All those things are not needed anymore. Instead we use our droones to inspect all kinds of wind turbines in all parts of Europe. And we do it precise, quick and in great numbers. With a small team we can inspect up to 20 or more wind turbines a day. Because of our efficient way of working we are able to deliver customization but also value for money. Remote wind farms are also no problem for us. We hop into our cars, drive to the wind farm and let our droones take to the air. With the advantage of being on the ground as a person and letting the machinery do the work we do not risk human life and also save our clients huge amounts of time. Did you already spot some of our droones circling around wind farms? #DAW #droonesarialworks #droneinspections #drone #inspections #safety #windenergy #sustainableenergy #energy #newtechnology

A project to retrofit crew transfer vessels (CTVs) for the offshore wind industry with hydrogen power has been given preliminary classification approval. Led by Orkney-based Green Marine (UK) Ltd, Project Verdant is aiming to decarbonise the CTVs that ferry personnel to and from offshore wind farms. Phase 1 of the project saw the team design a hydrogen-diesel hybrid vessel capable of operating with zero emissions at low speeds, for example when loitering near the base of a turbine. Findings show the hybrid system could reduce the vessel’s CO2 emissions by up to 30 per cent and NOx emissions by up to 40 per cent. Volvo Penta and Northern Offshore Services drive innovation to advance offshore wind energy. Discover how Volvo Penta and Northern Offshore Services (N-O-S) are pioneering offshore wind energy with the world’s first commercial application of the Volvo Penta IPS Professional Platform. This cutting-edge technology powers N-O-S’s new I-Class Crew Transfer Vessel (CTV), designed for efficiency, adaptability, and sustainability. In addition to the Volvo Penta IPS Professional Platform’s flexibility to adapt to future technologies and energy solutions. The enhanced maneuverability and thrust from the system make it ideal for the challenging conditions typically seen at offshore wind farms. Twin forward-facing counter-rotating propellers push water directly backward, creating a powerful thrust while reducing torque to enable more precise control over the I-Class vessel. Future-proof. High-quality. Cutting-edge. You hear these adjectives again and again in connection with Norwegian specialised vessels for the offshore wind industry. It's not just empty talk. In Norwegian newbuilds, hybrid propulsion is often standard and always optional, and existing vessels are being retrofitted for greener fuels. “Norway has many pioneering vessels, to be sure,” says Sigurd Urdal, special advisor for offshore wind at Innovation Norway. “But we also try to see how the vessel is connected to the entire system. We ask, ‘How can we utilise the ship in the most efficient way to solve the bigger issues together?’” #offshorewind #greenmaritime #supportvessels #greenhydrogen #retrofits #shipbuilding

New heights to climb, Introducing the ENERCON LCC 140 climbing crane.🏗️ Here's an innovative solution, the ENERCON LCC 140 climbing crane, designed to effortlessly deploy wind turbines during their construction phase, reaching impressive heights of 590 feet (180 metres). With its remarkable lifting capacity of 154.3 tonnes (140 tons), this self-climbing crane is a game-changer in the industry, making it easier to install wind turbines at dizzying heights. Originally developed by ENERCON and first deployed in 2019 for the installation of an ENERCON E-136 EP5 wind turbine in the Netherlands, the LCC 140 has since been used for the installation of turbines from various manufacturers, in addition to ENERCON's own models.
