🌍 Today, on 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗮𝘆, Eckert & Ziegler stands 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 with the global community to 𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 against one of the greatest challenges of our time ✊ 🌟 Led by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), this day marks a 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 to reimagine a world where preventable cancer deaths are a thing of the past, and 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲-𝘀𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 is equitable for all. 🤝 The current theme, “𝗖𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗚𝗮𝗽” emphasizes the importance of 𝗮𝗱𝗱𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗿𝘀 that hinder access to quality cancer care. We recognize that factors such as income, education, geographical location, and discrimination can impact individuals seeking cancer care. This theme 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 as we continue to work towards making quality cancer care 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲, 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲. New episode of the #HealthUnion mini-series! 👇 Everyone knows someone who has been touched by cancer. It is one of the main health challenges of our time and something that affects us all. Today, as part of the #EuropeanWeekAgainstCancer, we are highlighting how the #EUCancerPlan is already making a difference across the EU, following its adoption in 2021. With EUR 4 billion in funding, this is one of the most ambitious and well-funded Cancer Plans in the world, aimed at bolstering knowledge, determination, dignity and hope for all those touched by cancer. The cancer care gap refers to the disparity in access to quality cancer care and services between different countries and income levels. There is wide variability in the availability of cancer care resources globally, with significant shortfalls in many LMICs. The cancer care gap is a significant challenge that requires concerted global efforts to address and reduce the disparities in access to cancer care and services. Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths, accounting for 18% of all cancer deaths globally. Research also indicates that almost 60% of the world's lung cancer incidence is attributed to LMICs. Last week’s 77th #WorldHealthAssembly was an important opportunity to meet with health system experts to address the challenges around women’s cancers. At the side-event hosted by the Eastern Mediterranean NCD Alliance, “Uniting Voices for Action on Women Cancer”, we were able to reflect on many of the insights from the recent IAPO IHE policy report “Improving breast cancer care in the Middle East and Africa” (https://lnkd.in/gwA3mWJe). In addition to capturing the main challenges for breast cancer care in a number of #EMA markets, the report highlights the importance of multistakeholder coalitions to achieve meaningful improvements in cancer care.
