Completed New York Jobs CEO Council's Financial Analyst Simulation on Forage In this simulation, I undertook a comprehensive exploration of financial analysis, playing the role of an Analyst within the technology team of an investment bank. A significant part of my responsibilities included contributing to the assessment of the feasibility of establishing a partnership with BigTechCompany. This program is particularly beneficial for: - Individuals aspiring to deepen their understanding of financial analysis in a practical setting. - Those considering roles in investment banking or strategic advisory. On above 80/F, you are distracted by the city view outside the window of the conference room during the Assessment Center. You wonder why you have to compete with 3 other candidates who are former Summer Analyst in another Bulge Bracket before, for the coming Summer Analyst offer in Front Office. Here is why: There are limited non-return offer graduate hiring in Front Office. Summer Analysts without a return offer often try summer application again in the next year, knowing that applying directly to graduate program is unwise. And banks does not mind another 8 weeks "probation period" before committing to a full-time contract. Takeaway: be ready to compete with your senior. Calder Capital Team Spotlight: Garrett Monroe, Director Garrett joined Calder Capital in 2019, and he supports the team in managing M&A client engagement projects, business development, and assisting business owners and business buyers in making seamless and successful transactions. Here’s some fun Q&A with Garrett: What is your favorite activity? Enjoying different restaurants and food culture. Do you have a hidden talent? My hidden talents are not super interesting like being able to fold my legs over my head or juggle basketballs and tennis balls at the same time, but I can cut a crisp, straight-lined lawn and I have been known by family and friends to be able to get a stain out of any fabric.  How long have you worked at Calder? 5.5 years.  How did you come to work at Calder Capital? I met Max through one of my past investment banking internships. He had worked at the firm I was interning at. Calder was looking to hire its first full-time W2 analyst - I met with Max for coffee a few times and we hit it off. The rest is history. What is your favorite memory from Calder? Closing my first deal is my favorite Calder memory. It meant a lot to the owners and myself. The company was Premier Paper and Supplies - we sold it to KSS Enterprises. M&A sell-side transactions are not easy, but it is rewarding to see the impact it has on the owners' lives. What motivates you to work hard each day? The top two reasons are: 1. I want to provide the best life I can for my wife and family. 2. Our business owners deserve to have advisors in their corner that give it their all, each and every day. "I got 5 Summer Analyst investment banking offers!" "Which one do I pick?" First of all, congratulations! So much hard work is required to get these offers. Next step - Making a well-informed decision: 1. What questions do you need answered to get comfortable accepting? For example: -> Deal pipeline -> Type of technical experience (always pitching or signing deals?) -> Staffing (have a specific summer staffer?) -> Senior leader exposure -> Company (and team specific) reputation -> Analyst Training Program 2. Have you spoken to former Analysts about their experience? (not just currently working at firm?) Did they have a great or mediocre experience? 3. How have your interactions with employees at each of the firms been? Do they interact with each other well or competitively? Would you want to work with them? 4. TRUST YOUR GUT Just like picking the college of your dreams, picking an internship requires you to: ☑ Get as much information you can AND ☑ Trust your feelings 🎉 And once you make the decision, be happy and relieved. You’ve made a great career decision for you!
