The Boulder Valley School District (BVSD) is making strides with its $350 million capital construction bond, approved by voters in 2022. This massive initiative is set to revamp aging buildings, including New Vista High School, and new construction like a much-needed elementary school in Erie. Personal reflection: As someone deeply invested in community growth and infrastructure, I find BVSD's holistic approach commendable. When I hear about asbestos removal and expanded Career and Technical Education (CTE) facilities, it resonates with the importance of providing safe and modern learning environments. Key highlights include: - $42 million in summer projects across 12 schools. - Enhancements in engineering and woodshop spaces at Centaurus High School. - New ADA-compliant playground surfaces at multiple elementary schools. - Modernized tech and art rooms, along with a centralized CTE information hub at Broomfield Heights Middle School. Questions for you: 1. How do you think infrastructure improvements impact student performance and community engagement? 2. What are some ways your community is investing in educational facilities? Investing in our schools means investing in our future. Let's support these initiatives and share ideas to foster an even brighter future for our students. #Education #CommunityDevelopment #SchoolInfrastructure #BoulderValley #BVSD #TechnicalEducation

Mark your calendars!! Karen, Adam and the RAD team will be exhibiting at Education Estates 2024 on 15th & 16th October at Manchester Central. You can visit our stand (414) and hear about how we’re integrating sustainability, technology and flexible spaces to meet the needs of 21st century students. We’ll give you examples of how we’ve helped schools create learning environments that are innovative, adaptable, and built for the future. Plus, you can hear from our Managing Director, Karen Sanderson, who will be speaking at this year’s conference on the critical topic of sustainable classroom design. As schools and educational institutions face increasing pressure to meet sustainability goals, our approach puts the environment at the heart of creating inspiring, functional, and future-proof classrooms. Karen will explain why going green in classroom design doesn’t limit design, it enhances it! It improves student well-being, boosts academic performance, and reduces operational costs for schools, making it better for the earth, better for students, better for budgets…and definitely better for design. See you there!! #RAD #EducationEstates #ClassroomDesign #SustainabilityinDesign #Sustainablefurniture

#NeurodiversityCelebrationWeek continues! Knowing that 20% of students, faculty and staff are neurodivergent - a shift is needed toward a more inclusive culture in all campus settings. From classrooms and labs, sports and fitness spaces, to libraries, student common areas and cafeterias – designing spaces that address all physical and mental needs is critical. Access to natural light and the inclusion of biophilic elements were central to the renovation of St. Charles Community College's Life Science Building. The transformation gave them the teaching environment they needed to foster student success. From an overcrowded challenge to a sustainable, forward-thinking solution, the transformation of Parkway School District’s McKelvey Primary Center (Parkway Schools) makes for an inspiring case study of collaboration for high performance design. Functional multi-purpose spaces were a priority for the District and our detailed evaluation of existing facilities and programmatic requirements helped them apply this vision. Four additional classrooms and three additional special education classrooms were added to the original project, including a future-proof design to accommodate expansion. In our shared mission to improve academic performance, we agreed on measures to improve comfort for end users of the building like students, faculty and staff, alongside conserving energy and reducing life-cycle costs. We also made sure that project met the Advanced Energy Design Guide for K-12 School Buildings whenever possible on the existing building and as a minimum requirement on all new additions. #fgma #pk12 #elementaryschools #ParkwayProud #StLArchitecture #StLSchools #WeBuildCommunity

Really looking forward to this. Question for service designers out there: what do you think a teenager should know about #servicedesign as a career? Could be something inspiring or even a reality check!
This week we've been selecting participants for 2024 programme. There are some stellar sign-ups from Greenford High School and it been tough picking only 30 students to join us on the 3-day Service Design course in October coached by Simon Gough and Mo-Ling Chui at University of West London. #ServiceDesign #LondonForEveryone
