Founder and Managing Partner at Sanva Ventures (Kaleido, Solasta) | Event Production & Experiential Marketing | Content Marketing | Personal Events
There’s a common belief in our industry that the bigger the event, the better. Picture massive halls, long guest lists, and extravagant setups but that is not always the case. Initially, I was drawn to the allure of large-scale events too. They're impressive and eye-catching. But then, I attended a small-scale workshop and it changed my perspective. The difference? Engagement. In smaller settings, each participant gets a chance to be heard, to connect, and to absorb the content. At this workshop, I noticed how personal everything felt. The speakers connected with us more intimately. There was a real exchange of ideas, not just one-way communication. That's when it hit me: impactful events are about quality interactions, not just quantity of attendees. The real success of an event isn't in its lavishness but in its effectiveness. Did it inspire? Did it teach something new? Did it connect people? These questions matter more than how many people were in the room. As event planners, our goal should be to leave a lasting impression, whether we're hosting ten people or ten thousand. In our pursuit of success, let’s remember that sometimes, smaller can be smarter. It's not just about filling a room; it's about filling a need, creating a moment, and making an impact. #events #entertainment #impact

Running your event team at 100% capacity… Is bad for your event & bad for your event program. Stressed event staff creates stressed attendees. Energy is contagious. Your attendees, speakers, exhibitors. They all pick up on your team's energy. Bring the stress down. Create room for: - Connecting with attendees - New ideas - Failure Reminder - experiential marketing needs to be a good experience. Events aren’t about efficiency. They’re about impact. Shout out to Sarah Breathnach for the inspiration.

I always ask event planners one question when preparing to deliver a talk for their event. "Do you want more inspiration or application?" Without a doubt, more and more event planners want application. Done are the days when we bring in inspirational speaker after inspirational speaker. Yeah, attendees feel like they can conquer the world when they leave that event, but then everything just goes back to the way it was. Without application, there is no transformation. Inspiration? It has to be there. I'll bring that along with a huge dose of application. Let's talk if you're in the market for someone to speak at your next event. Take a look at what over 900 people have said about my talks. https://lnkd.in/gXJHBTDv

A recent post by our CEO, Petri Hollmen, about measuring events raised much conversation. 🧐 Some years ago, Lyyti developed a measuring tool called the Experience Value Score, which has proved to be very valuable for many event organisers. However, many still neglect event evaluation. Sanna-Kaisa Koivisto from MarkkinointiKollektiivi raised a very good point about giving and receiving feedback: if someone is willing to give it, you are responsible for reviewing it. It's in everyone's best interest to develop events based on feedback. 👇 ✨ The organiser will hopefully make better events in the future. ✨ The participant will enjoy more meaningful encounters. ✨ By engaging all the stakeholders of the event, the event industry has more collective insights about organising events. Take a look at Petri's post and join the convo! ➡️ https://lnkd.in/dZAJF9mg Also, if you know Finnish you can take part in our webinar about Event ROI on 30 Nov ➡️ https://lnkd.in/dcPe-MkT #feedback #events #ExperienceValueScore

A Friday thought: panel discussions. Over the years, I've observed and participated in numerous panel discussions, and it's become evident that they can often lack enthusiasm, leaving audiences disengaged. Recently, I was approached by GBB Venture to moderate a panel at the upcoming 2nd Hospitality Innovation Summit KSA & UAE prompting me to address this issue. As industry professionals, we possess the power to break away from the traditional mould and infuse vitality into these sessions, providing attendees with a truly invigorating experience. It's easy to forget that disagreement is not only acceptable but also essential for enriching dialogue. Let's shed our fear of candid conversations. Audiences crave authenticity, not rehearsed exchanges. It's time to breathe new life into panel discussions, fostering interactive dialogues that are casual, enjoyable, yet intellectually stimulating, with a primary focus on engaging the audience. I'm not disputing that guided topics can facilitate smooth conversation flow; however, let's strive to move away from the conventional panel setup characterised by predictable questions. Anyway, join me and an esteemed panel of both local and global industry leaders on March 7th for an unscripted discussion on Brand War along the 3 is - International v/s Home Brands. See you there. 😎
