The next generation is stepping up around here! These students from Great Bridge Baptist Church came out to our warehouse and helped us organize Ready Bag supplies and pack Ready Bags for dozens of families who will be diagnosed with pediatric cancer this summer. Awesome job! 👏👏👏 #nextgen #hope #childhoodcancer #nonprofit #volunteer #local

Vineyard Havens, a non-profit organization offering cancer patients a much-needed respite vacation on Martha's Vineyard, is an amazing organization for families who cannot afford the time or effort (not to mention the funding!) for "normalcy", time away from a hospital visit. So many people I know have been affected by cancer and what they really want is the longing to feel normal. Vacations are very normal and the idea for Vineyard Havens was born from this basic desire. As a volunteer and board member I am privileged to witness hope and courage. The families that are coming are stepping away from their cancer world. It is a brave choice. Not everyone has that kind of fortitude. Their courage is inspiring, and it is incredibly gratifying to know that we are contributing to gifting them some moments of joy. It is rare to be part of something this special from the beginning. We are seeking help with grant writing and the difference you make is impactful! Please reach out and let me know. #grantwriting; #writing; #opportunity

A Journey of Triumph and Resilience Lynne's story began with a shock diagnosis over the Anzac Day weekend in April 1999. Despite the initial shock, Lynne and her husband, Reg, faced this new challenge with the same determination that had seen them through many others during their 34 years of marriage. After undergoing surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy for endometrial cancer, Lynne's prognosis was excellent. They resumed their lives with a new set of priorities, embarking on adventures that included attending the 2000 Olympics, parasailing, jet skiing, and climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Lynne, a dedicated nurse, continued working until six months before her passing. Known for her tireless work ethic, her colleagues often said that to "Do a Lynne King" was to do the work of two nurses in half the time. Even during her treatment, Lynne would don her turban, and head to work, insisting on maintaining as normal a life as possible. Her story is one of triumph and resilience, reminding us all of the importance of support, determination, and living life to the fullest. Join us on this journey as we continue to share the story of Lynne and people like her that we were able to help save with her legacy. If you feel compelled to donate to help fund treatments and support for people with cancer you can do that here: https://lnkd.in/gjRtY4rA We appreciate your support in Lynne’s memory. #CancerSupport #LynneKingFoundation #FinancialAid #EmotionalSupport #CommunityCare #CancerAwareness #CancerJourney #SupportSystem #HealthCareHeroes #PatientCare #CharitySupport #NonProfitOrganization #InspiringStories #BreastCancerAwareness #CancerSurvivor #HopeAndHealing #FightAgainstCancer #CommunitySupport #HelpingHands #MakingADifference #CancerFighters #WellnessWarriors #SupportCancerPatients #HopeForCancerPatients #CourageAndStrength #CancerResources #TogetherWeFight #CancerCharity #HealingTogether #StrengthInCommunity #sydney #lynneking

Before you start your fun-filled weekend: FrontStream is hosting an auction in support of childhood cancer awareness month 🫶🏽 PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, SHARE this page with your family and friends! We need everyone's help to make this event a success!🎉🎉🤩 https://lnkd.in/eKAWaNxj 5 Reasons to #BeTheOne For Kids' Sake Foundation Inc Reason 1 1,243 kids will receive a cancer diagnosis this September. 14,924 in all of 2024. Reason 2 Thousands of parents are visiting their child's resting place when they should be sending them off to school this September. 1,590 kids are expected to die in 2024 alone. Reason 3 Since... 4% of the federal government's annual cancer research budget goes to pediatric cancer - less than $3.00 per kid - and private companies have less financial incentive to invest in pediatric research due to the smaller patient population... Childhood cancer research relies on nonprofits like FOR KIDS' SAKE to fill in the funding gap. Reason 4 It's easy to #BeTheOne that helps save kids from this awful disease; they need you! Bid, donate and share this online auction to #BeTheOne raising funds for life-saving research. Reason 5 You're guaranteed to see an irresistible vacation package in this month-long #BeTheOne auction. But also consider fulfilling two needs with one deed for this FANTASTIC cause: Knock out some of your holiday shopping before December Secure early (or belated) birthday gifts for friends, family, or neighbors Make a donation in honor of Malia's legacy! 𝘿𝙤𝙣’𝙩 𝙢𝙞𝙨𝙨 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙩 𝙖𝙩 𝙗𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚 2024 𝙏𝙧𝙞𝙜𝙜𝙚𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙣 𝙏𝙧𝙞𝙛𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙖 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙢𝙥𝙞𝙤𝙣! These three special events will help us raise money to fund cutting-edge #medulloblastoma research. Medulloblastoma is the most common brain tumor in children, and approximately 250 children are diagnosed with it each year. The current treatments in place are highly toxic to the developing bodies of children—and yet, there are few market incentives for companies to put in the R&D to bring better therapies to market. Funding for this critical research is left up to the nonprofit community, which includes many individuals who have lost a child they love to this malignant disease. That is why our mission is urgent. So when you register for the Triggerman Trifecta, you are helping more children hope for a better, brighter, and cancer-free future. More details about this inaugural event can be found here: https://lnkd.in/gfe25W_J

Student at Bradley University studying Political Science and Journalism with minors in Spanish and Marketing
Bradley University houses many students who are driven by compassion. I had the pleasure of interviewing seven female students who recently started a new chapter of Fighting Pretty: a nationwide non-profit chapter that provides aid to women battling cancer. I am inspired by the stories their stories and it was an honor to share them with readers. Check out my new article for "Here's the Latest" https://lnkd.in/gmU86TBM
