Element Fuels Holdings, a clean fuels producer, has completed site preparation and pre-construction on a hydrogen-powered refinery and combined-cycle power plant at the Port of Brownsville, Texas. The Element complex, built on more than 240 acres within the Port, is designed to produce and recycle hydrogen using advanced technologies to generate and deliver cleaner, higher-quality fuels, including high-octane gasoline and electricity for commercial and consumer consumption. “Element Fuels has received the necessary permitting to construct and operate a refinery capable of producing in excess of 160,000 barrels, or approximately 6.7 million gallons, per day of finished gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel,” said Founder and Co-CEO of Element Fuels, John Calce. The refinery, designed to process exclusively high-gravity domestic shale oil, is expected to be operational in 2027. It will produce low-carbon-intensity fuels to help reduce carbon emissions. The facility will also produce enough low-carbon hydrogen to supply approximately 100% of the refinery’s fuel requirements, eliminating CO2 emissions. Any excess hydrogen produced will be used to generate low-carbon, utility-scale electricity from Element’s hydrogen-capable combined-cycle gas turbine power plant. Over 100 MW of excess electricity generated from Element’s power plant will be provided to the Energy Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) to support the surrounding community’s needs. Leistritz Pump Technology enhances the Oil & Gas industry by utilising multiphase pumping systems that manage the simultaneous flow of oil, gas, and water, eliminating costly separation processes. 𝗘𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: Twin-screw pumps operate reliably under difficult conditions and offer high gas tolerance and minimal shear forces. 𝗘𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁: These systems reduce flaring and venting, lowering carbon emissions by up to 30% while minimising the environmental footprint of operations. 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: The pumps transport multiphase mixtures without separation, reducing energy consumption and waste. 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗳𝗶𝘁𝘀: Can cut CAPEX and OPEX by up to 20%, accelerate production, and extend the life of existing wells. 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗱𝘀: Unlike traditional methods that require separate equipment, multiphase pumping uses a single system, reducing costs and environmental impact by up to 60%. Dynapumps proudly supported by Leistritz Pump Technology, will exhibit at the EXA - Energy Exchange Australia Exhibition from March 11-13, 2025, at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre (PCEC), Stand Q25. It's all about the Nox!!!!!! Reducing the excess air markedly lowers the amount of NOx being formed in the combustion process, and uncontrolled NOx concentrations around 96mg/Nm3 (dry at 11% O2) are reached by CTEC gasification of the worst types of waste. The main reason for this achievement by www.ctecenergy.co.uk is the low temperature in the gasifier including the use of EGR. Cleaver design of the combustion swirl chamber in combination with good intermixing of the flue gases by injection of secondary air and recirculated flue gas. Producing an optimized combustion control system allowing for very stable combustion conditions with little fluctuations and no additional Nox abatement required.

Check out this great overview of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)’s recent heavy industry demonstration annoucnement from my colleague Rafae Ghani. These public-private partnerships for American manufacturing competitiveness can catalyze a new wave of technologies that support production of clean affordable materials. This program is the result of years of bipartisan support in Congress, including the Clean Industrial Technology Act signed into law in the Energy Act of 2020, the bipartisan infrastructure bill, and years of work at the Appropriations Committee. This one is particularly cool personally, not only because Republicans and Democrats have come together over the past 5 years to catalyze this #innovation program, but also because my brother-in-law Aaron Stewart is helping drive forward one of the innovative awards - the Delicious Decarbonization Through Integrated Electrification and Energy Storage - on the private sector side. Kraft Heinz is working on multiple projects across their operations to reduce process heat emissions and reduce the energy costs to production on their food products. Check it out: https://lnkd.in/eTEg_bVW Rafae also does a deeper dive on the Cleveland-Cliffs, Sublime Systems, and Heidelberg Materials North America awards.
In late March, the U.S. Department of Energy announced $6 billion in funding for industrial decarbonization demos! I'm excited to publish a blog highlighting key projects and why this is a crucial first step in scaling up technologies essential for industrial decarbonization. Key takeaways: 💭 14 million metric tons of emissions avoided annually 🏭 Building two large-scale cement CCS facilities for the first time in the U.S. ⚙ Two commercial-scale clean steel facilities funded ⚡ Funding for first-of-a-kind commercial projects producing innovative cement You can read the blog on ClearPath's website here: https://lnkd.in/dZBseJ2a

Low carbon steel projects - Breakdown by technology When considering all types of projects, DRI remains the cornerstone, with hydrogen as a new strategic input (see Figure). DRI technology is included in half of the reported projects and envisaged in all regions. In terms of feedstock (as mentioned previously), the strategy consists in either using exclusively green hydrogen, or considering a switch from natural gas to green hydrogen upon economic considerations. Regarding steelmaking specifically, the EAF route (primary and secondary) accounts for around 45% of the projects. However, BF is also an integral part of the project pipeline representing nearly 30% of the projects recorded. Quoted from OECD Report titled "Addressing Steel Decarbonisation Challenges For Industry And Policy"
