✊🏾💻 Very interesting read about the lack of Black entrepreneurs in Miami. In the article they highlight a few locally who are looking to make impact in this space including Ted Lucas. I had the pleasure last season of working with him and his team on a few initiatives and looking forward to continuing that this season. Maybe we take our Tech Tuesdays and dedicate one program to Blacks in Miami Tech? Anyone interested in ideating on some concepts feel free to DM me…would love to see these numbers increase. #blacktech #miamitech

These enterprises not only contribute to the economic empowerment of their communities, but they also bring unique perspectives and innovations to the marketplace. Whether it's exploring the products and services of a local Black-owned shop, sharing their stories on social media, or advocating for policies that level the playing field, every act of support can have a ripple effect. I recently completed a module on Entrepreneurship as part of my MPhil at Bayes Business School (which was excellently led by Nettra Pan 👁). My assignment involved designing a mixed-method study to explore the intersection of race and gender and the concepts of trust and competency. The study aimed to investigate how implicit racial biases and attitudes linked to these concepts could affect investment opportunities for Black entrepreneurs. There is a pressing need for more empirical research on these critical issues. If you meet Vanessa Brown's criteria, do consider connecting with her. #BlackInAcademia #Entrepreneurhip #EquityDiversityInclusion
Are you a Black founder or someone who supports Black entrepreneurs through investment, mentorship, or in a professional capacity? I’m conducting a study on Black Entrepreneurial Ecosystems (BEE) and seeking participants to share their experiences. This research will explore how support systems, networks, and collaborations impact the success of Black entrepreneurs. We will focus on three key areas: 1. Ecosystem Mapping: What support mechanisms exist for Black entrepreneurs, and where are the gaps? 2. Support Organisations: How do organisations tailor their services to meet the needs of Black founders? 3. Black Founder Experiences: How do Black entrepreneurs perceive and engage with these support systems? Your participation could help drive change, inform policies, and create more inclusive, thriving entrepreneurial ecosystems for Black founders. Together, we can make an impact! Interested in sharing your insights or learning more? As we celebrate National Black Business Month, it is important to reflect on the space we hold as entrepreneurs in our respective industries, our impact and most importantly our "why"/ purpose. Here Richelieu Dennis, Founder & Chairman of Sundial Group of Companies, Sundial Media Group, Essence Ventures, Refinery29, New Voices Fund, and New Voices Foundation outlines the purpose and mission behind the work that we do as a collective group of companies.
