Everyone's asking what we actually won!
Watch to the end and read the caption!
🎉 I’m beyond grateful to announce the incredible prizes we won for the UK Black Business Show Launchpad Competition! These generous prizes are going to make such a huge impact on The Vegan Patty Lady’s journey, and I can’t wait to dive into everything. Here’s what we’ve won:
1) A free exhibition booth at the 2025 London Show (with 18,000 attendees expected!)
2) Free legal advice and support from a top law firm
3) BCorp certification (specific rules and regulations apply)
4) One year of mentoring, plus access to key contacts and opportunities from @LloydsBankinggroup and @UKBBSHOW
5) Two months free, followed by two months at a 50% discount for SOAR Ascend Membership
6) A feature in the 2025 Lloyds and UKBB Launchpad video, shared across both communities
7) A professional recording of my pitch from the main stage 🎤
These prizes are so generous and truly game-changing for my business! 🙌🏽 One I’m especially excited about is the access to mentoring. Learning from someone who has already achieved the success I’m striving for is invaluable—it’ll guide me, help me avoid key pitfalls, and push The Vegan Patty Lady to new heights! 💫
Even just the small bit of advice/input that I gained from @kitahweyevu in the semi-finals about making sure judges fully understand your product when pitching was game changing —I applied that feedback straight to the finals, and it made all the difference!
I am totally convinced that real growth comes from listening, learning, and taking action, and I’m so excited to see where we’ll be in a year with all of this support. 💛
Huge thanks again to all the judges, @kitahweyevu, @simonkenyon, and Dr. Raphael Sofoluke for voting for me to win, and to @LloydsBankinggroup, the UK Black Business Show and @raphaelsofoluke for this amazing opportunity! 🚀

Good morning, LinkedIn network!
Updating you all on my experience at the UK Black Business Week | UK Black Business Show at Excel London last week, made possible by the Institute of Directors (IoD).
At the event, I had the privilege of pitching at the IoD stand, engaging potential members, and raising awareness about the valuable benefits of IoD membership, as many who visit the iconic 116 Pall Mall may not realise just how much the organisation offers. It was a pleasure to promote such a successful institution alongside Tkeyah-Renee H. and the IoD team.
I also got the opportunity to visit many stalls, where I had insightful conversations with recruiters about their companies' purpose and opportunities. Engaging with these professionals boosted my confidence and excitement for future prospects. Additionally, I appreciated the chance to network with Alvin Gashaija MBCS, a fellow student who shared some great networking advice.
Thanks again to the IoD and Josh Ngondo Cert IoD for this fantastic opportunity. I look forward to making this event a yearly tradition !!
UK Black Business Week | UK Black Business Show was exhilarating! I was intrigued by the wealth of knowledge from every speaker. So many nuggets but one general theme was the emphasis on "character over cashflow"
- People make businesses so don't lose your humanity at the expense of profit (paraphrased)
-"Failure is feedback, feedback is knowledge and knowledge is power"- Steve Bartlett.
I had a great week, it doubled as the best birthday getaway, thanks to Bayile Adeoti FRSA!

‘RECLAIMING NARRATIVES’
The theme of this year’s Black History Month was a very thought provoking title and even when asking and thinking to myself about what reclaiming narratives actually means has so many different meanings.
One in particular I would say is within the black community not allowing the backgrounds/roots of where we come from to hold us back within any way, shape or form.
This is our strength and builds unity not only within our community alone but within society as a whole as we are all one and united yet we still bring our different unique qualities to the table.
Shining the light on who we are and where we’re pushing towards as a community is something that’s so important and is only part of the greater mission to build a greater unity and throughout this month, this theme was continuously shown throughout various events that I had the pleasure of attending. Some of which included: BTF® 2024, UK Black Business Week | UK Black Business Show, Snap in Colour, KEF Expressions of Excellence, all of which I’m so grateful for the people I met, and the inspiring stories that I heard.
One thing in particular I took from the month is that perspective makes all the different and is really where ‘Narratives can be reclaimed’ as instead of looking at the history of black culture and where our race started and came from through a negative lens, we can actually change our outlook and draw so many positives from that and use that to uplift and strengthen who we are daily.
